    So good, huge portions, great service. Good drinks also. Was expecting a regular American Mexican restaurant but was very impressed. Tableside guac was great. Located in the mall but they have a nice outdoor seating area and you'd never know once you're inside that its attached to the mall.

    Considering how much I love Mexican food, I haven't found that much I like in Massachusetts. Perhaps we are too far from the border. This is a typical, suburban mall chain restaurant in the old Charley's location. It was packed the first Saturday night we tried to go. Make a reservation for busier times. Wait an hour? I think not. We made a reservation for later in the week and returned. Service was very friendly and I liked that they tried to engage you in Spanish. The chips and salsa were very good. I had the Tacos de Pescado app. The fish was so fried that I could barely taste it. I was excited to try the Enchiladas de Mole Poblano, but it was pretty basic and boring. Chicken, queso, onion, and cilantro in a tasteless Mole sauce. The food was OK, but I found it dull, lacking in flavor and spice, and not as good as nearby Cafe Sol Azteca. They brought me a huge glass of sangria, but not a buzz could be found. Pretty much, an OK place for Americans to try Mexican food, but I thought the food itself was rather lacking. For more authentic and better Mexican food, I would suggest Taqueria El Amigo in Waltham.

    Absolutely fabulous and so good. The service is outstanding and the servers are very attentive to your needs and spice requirements. The decor is very nice and the guacamole made at the table is very tasty. I would highly recommend the iron skillet tacos and the roasted corn. For dessert the Tres Leches is extremely satisfying.

    I went here with a friend after work for dinner. We ate out on the patio which was nice because it's so dimly lit inside. The waitress was friendly enough. We ordered the guac which came right out, but it was premade not made at the table. This might be because we were on the patio. It took a real long time for the main course to get to our table. It wasn't that busy and it was a wednesday. We both got the budin de mariscos. It was pretty good. Nothing that really special. The main gripe I had was the price. We both split the bill down the middle and we both paid around $40 each including tip. We didn't order drinks either. I think the price is a little high especially the guac which is $12. I know it's in Chestnut Hill but still it was overpriced for what it is. I don't think I will go back, just because it was average food for a high price.

    First visit was very good. Table side guacamole is often great but inconsistent - depends on who makes it. The next three visits were increasingly mediocre. Three strikes.... On last visit, several dishes arrived cold. Sent them back. Took forever. Some at the table had already finished their entrees. When replacements arrived they were overcooked, dry and lukewarm. Waiter and manager were pretty indifferent and seemed annoyed with us. This pace started off strong but has become typical mall fare. There are much better in the area.

    Went at an odd hour during the weekday. Greeted by a server in Spanish, asked for a bigger table even though we are only a table of 2. Server rejected us and kept telling us it is for big parties even though there only only 3 tables of customers. Got pretty upset and had to talk to the GM and she was very kindly brought us to a big table. Now to the food. They started us off with salsa and tortilla. Tortilla tasted really fresh. 1. Table guacamole. Made fresh in front of you and you get to choose rhe spiciness. Great for people like me who cannot handle hot. 2. Melted cheese with oinions and peppers. I don't like onions but I was able to enjoy this dish. 3. Main course- pork and pineapple tacos. 4. Main course- Short ribs. The outside of the meat was marinated very well but the meat felt boiled and not much taste in the middle 5. side of corn 6. side of plantains. (def get this) If you are not in a rush, you should take your time and enjoy their music. Makes you feel like you are somewhere else. Overall experience, other than the fact that it's a carbs meal, I will recommend this place for their food, environment and music. Definitely go at odd hours. They also give you a small doll in the end to put under your pillow to take away bad dreams.

    Went to Besito again tonight, I have been a number of times. I still feel that they offer a decent product for the price. However, tonight I went with a party of 5 people and to say the service was rushed - would be an understatement. We were ushered in, the server appeared and orders were taken whether we were ready or not. Our drinks weren't even ordered. We arrived at 6:45 and were deposited on the sidewalk at 8:05 - way too fast for a party of 5 in no hurry to go anywhere. Our table was cleared and cleaned while we were in the middle of conversation. Not a great experience. Also, I asked someone to bring me the menu so I could recheck the wine list and my server told me "not to do that again - only ask me for things." Odd?

    The first thing you notice when you walk in is the atmosphere. Great ambiance, with lively salsa music and the candlelights all lined up on the wall! I loved the mask decoration that hung over some of the fixtures, really intriguing. We can tell it was busy. We expected at least a 25 minute wait. Luckily, a table opened up for us. Our server Kelly was such a sweetheart. She made us a really mean guacamole, which was so good that I was licking the serving spoon. The trouble came with our food. My pescada con pipian y atole was unbearably dry. My companion, who ordered the salmon manchamanteles, also found her fish to be overcooked. Our waitress was very apologetic when we told her, and said that she'll send the manager over. The manager was definitely taking his time, as he took nearly 15 minutes to get to us. When he did finally arrive, it was pretty obvious he really didn't care that much. Overall, great environment, delicious drinks, lovely server and killer guacomole. But someone might want to teach the kitchen staff how to cook a fish

    I happened to stop in on National Tequila Day. Well why not! I got the Besito margarita, which was really delicious and their top seller for good reason. I also ordered a chicken quesadilla and a side of their plantains, both extremely delicious. The entrees also come with sides of rice and beans, so you are pretty much guaranteed to walk out stuffed. They also have chips and salsa when you sit down, and the salsa is some of the best I've had. The sinks in the bathroom have personal dual Dyson hand dryers which are pretty nifty, especially after a drink or two. The staff at the bar where we sat was friendly, despite the onslaught of tequila being ordered in celebration of this wonderful tequila day. The best perk of all was a little churro to go after the meal and a little worry doll to keep the happiness alive until the next Besito visit.

    Could have been so much better... Besito is located in the Chestnut Hill Mall. A Mexican cuisine chain, it adds some variety to the restaurants in the shopping mall area. The ambiance is nice (simple and warm). The service was helpful. I especially liked that the servers try initially to engage you in Spanish. It gives a very authentic feel. Unfortunately, the food does not quite do the same. The menu provides a number of staples from the Mexican cuisine from tacos to enchiladas. They start you off with salsa and tortilla chips. The salsa is not that memorable. We then had the empanadas with mushrooms and cheese. They lacked any distinct flavor. The mushroom provided a sweet flavor but lacking salt there was no savory "counterpunch". For a meal, I ordered the encrusted mahi mahi which had a good flavor and seemed fresh. The problem was that the fish portion was actually smaller than the palm of my hand and very thin. I was quite hungry after finishing it. My wife had the chicken tacos and seemed to have difficulty constructing the tacos herself from the small cluttered skillet of ingredients. There did not seem to be much chicken. The platanos (sweet) were good. For dessert, we each had a Mexican hot chocolate which was pretty good but lacking the spice to which I have grown accustomed. The meal ended with some homemade churros which were pretty good. It was a nice touch to get a Besito keychain light and worry doll to take home. Unfortunately, we came for the food and it disappointed.

    First of all I would love to say is this restaurant had such amazing amazing customer service and ambiance. Food all over was top and over more delicious then I expected. Hallel was our server she gave awesome customer service and took really good care of us. Not once did she have a frown on her face smiles from the beginning till we left. Over all experience was far more then any of us expected. Will def return and thank you for your great hospitality:). All over 5++++++++ stars deserved for great service and amazing food...!!!!

    Love this new mexican restaurant so much!! It is beside the cheesecake factory in the Chestnut Hill Mall. The restaurant is new, quite big and everything is neat. The servers are all friendly and not to forget the delicious fooodd! Don't forget to order the table side guacamole and the panquesito de jaiba they are the best!

    Yum! I had a delicious meal here and can't wait to come back. The Mexican chopped salad was amazing and big enough to save for the next day.... When it was scrumptious again! The salad is fresh, chicken well seasoned, and there are even bits of Mexican corn and sweet potatoes throughout. Loved the warm tortilla chips and the passion fruit iced tea which comes in a little square pitcher. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the complimentary churros: tasteless and immediate heartburn. But I'd definitely recommend this place otherwise! Olé

    This was one of the best experience I've had in a restaurant. At every part of the evening, I was wowed. We arrived a bit early for our reservation, and the hostess was incredibly accommodating. She acknowledged our special occasion and said they were waiting on a special table to be cleared, for which we were more than happy to wait. Every associate I encountered was professional, friendly, smiling, courteous, and helpful. We were given waters as soon as we were seating, and chips and salsa soon followed. Our server, Jen, was fun, exciting, engaging, attentive, and prompt. She had lots of recommendations, and was very helpful and knowledgable. The ambiance of the restaurant was fantastic. I loved the decor, the furniture, the lighting, and especially the ceiling! They use real candles at the table, which is a huge plus. They played Salsa and Merengue music, which I really enjoyed. There are so many little surprises and features of this restaurant to tie in Mexican culture, which makes this a truly special restaurant. Most importantly, the food was phenomenal. I especially enjoyed the guacamole made table-side, which you can select your spiciness, and the crab cakes. My friend and I both ordered a flight of tequila shots, which all were so excellent you didn't need to chase it with lime or salt. The qualify was so good. We also really enjoyed the margaritas and mojitos. I will definitely be back to Besito again!!!

    Not your Average Mexican Place Arrived around 6 from work and restaurant was full, yet not loud or crowded. We were greeted right away and seated at a comfortable table, quickly greeted by our server and the fun began. Fresh guacamole made table-side to out liking and the food was brought out quickly. The food is not what you will get elsewhere. Amazing fresh take on Latino cuisine, the staff is amazing and the atmosphere is awesome. Family friendly and reasonably priced. You HAVE to try this place.

    Waiter was great. We didn't have a reservation and they accommodated us immediately on a Saturday night. The ambiance is wonderful. I got the Bessito margarita, well two and both were terrific. Food - I ordered the steak dish with plantains on the skillet - the food was Luke warm! I like my food hot, especially on a skillet!!! Also, this is a "Mexican" restaurant, however it doesn't taste authentically Mexican, just a chain.

    I went to Besito on Saturday night for dinner. We had reservations for 8:45 pm. Even though the place was extremely busy, we were promptly seated at the time of our reservation. I ordered the La Casa Margarita. It wasn't too strong, but the right amount of alcohol so you didn't have too much of the nasty tequila taste. The combination of pomegranate and tangerine juices made it a delicious supplement to my meal. We started off with a complimentary side of chips and salsa for the table. The chips were flavorful and warm. I did not care for the salsa. It had an odd taste. I typically do not like really chunky salsa, but the salsa Besito uses was more watery than I usually like. The restaurant gives you a side of sour cream for the table, which I appreciated. Most places charge extra to add a spoonful of sour cream to your meal. I ordered the Tacos Res which consisted of grilled skirt steak, pico de gallo, melted cheese, shredded lettuce and chile and avocado sauces. You also get a side of rice and black beans for the table. I expected my tacos to come assembled, but you have to put them together yourself, which can get a little messy. The tacos are not what I expected - the soft shells were tiny, about four inches - but were delicious. You get about six to eight soft shells. The meat was delicious and juicy, and the sauces were flavorful. The only thing I didn't like was the cheese. Taste-wise, there was nothing wrong with it; however, the skillet it came on was hot, so it was all melted. By the time it cooled down, it became more difficult to scoop it off the skillet onto my taco. We opted to not get dessert, but they gave us complimentary churros with our check. Make sure you eat them when you get them, as they are delicious warm! The server also gave us a Besito keychain and a little Mexican "anti-worry" toy. Apparently you put it under your pillow at night to ward off any worries. I'm not sure if these touches are just because of the restaurant's recent opening. I hope to be back!

    First the ambience was perfect, I was treated as a first class customer from the moment they open the door, in an effort to achieve a genuine experience their service staff greet you and use basic conversational Spanish to go the extra mile including an authentically used "buen provecho" when your food items arrive to table. I had several dishes including a house margarita Elotes de la calle Enchiladas Mixtas Guacamole "eh-spicy" Sopa de Tortilla Everything was fantastic, and just to assure you that this was not a paid review the only thing I did not fully appreciate from my visit was scented candles at the bar, I hope that is something they change because other than that I had a perfect experience. I would rather smell of the food then a scented candle. They are new, but are paying attention to detail..

    I have been to this place 3 times now. The first time around the food was decent and staff was friendly. The second and third time around the food and the wait staff were just mediocre. The only dish consistently good all three times was the table side guacamole. It was delicious. For the price I would rather go some place else.

    We ate at Besito to celebrate our anniversary, since it falls on Cinco de Mayo. My review should be 4.5 stars, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since the food was rather special, and since I feel they get dinged for fast service, which can be easily misinterpreted as being rushed. We started with the tableside guacamole, which (along with the chips and salsa) was delicious. I had the boneless short ribs, my wife the chile rellenos. My ribs were full of flavor, again beyond what you find in most mexican restaurants. My wife doesn't favor Mexican goat cheese, so she didn't love the rellenos filling, but we both agreed that the peppers were excellent. The grilled corn side was very special. Besito serves long-grained rice, so I especially enjoyed it (more than standard Mexican style rice). The black beans were the only dish that I felt was ordinary. Finally, the churros (in a bag) were delicious - hot, with a slightly gooey center and crispy on the outside. For drinks, the margaritas were excellent - strong, with good mix, and reasonably-priced. Service was very friendly and efficient. They do swoop in soon after you seem to stop eating, and their way of asking if you're done is somewhat indirect, so there is a moment where you feel that they are being presumptuous for removing the plates (even though they are correct in doing so). The food comes very quickly out of the kitchen, so it is natural that some people would feel rushed. On the other hand, you will never feel like you are being ignored. Ambience is dark (it's hard to read the drink menu), and the music is loud but fun. You're in the Chestnut Hill Mall, so parking is free and relatively plentiful. Prices are somewhat higher than most Mexican places, but so is the quality. Portions are generous, and the churros are free (you can skip the desert). Besito is a good place when you want Mexican food that is above the norm.

    Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing..but, I had the iron skillet pork tacos. The pork was overcooked, under salted and just lacking flavor overall. The salsa however was outstanding. For dessert we had the flan which seemed pumpkin based ..was rather sweet and I didn't quite care too much for the texture. Not smooth or cold enough for my palate. I will however definitely give them another chance..specially for the table-side Guacamole which looks amazing.

    Where do I begin..... Decor- lovely, dark, cozy, and just a nice space overall. Service - the waiter was not pleasant at ALL. He assumed that because I was Latin that I did not deserve the same service as my Caucasian counterparts. That made me very sad. I was rushed, and when I asked questions, he barely answered them and then would walk away. Food- we got the shrimp tacos and crab cake. The shrimp were okay. The crab cake was not good at all. The sauce that it sat on was overpowering and took away from the crab cake. Steak skewer / shrimp Skewer- we got one of each. The steak was ordered medium, and it came well done. It was literally three bite size pieces of meat with 4 large jalapeños and and two Chorizos. It just did not taste great. The shrimp skewer tasted much better although underwhelming in and of itself. Dessert - probably the best part of the night aside from the chips and salsa. We got the Flan and Tres Leches. Mediocre as well. For this price, just go ahead and get authentic tapas and go to Bocado or Toro. Much better. The quality of their food will leave you begging for more. This place was just not all that people are making it out to be. Sorry.

    The food was pretty good - service was pretty horrible. The atmosphere is really cool so my friend and I were looking forward to drinks and dinner around 7pm on a Thursday. Chips came out quick and the waiter came to take our order quick - but didn't give us time to look at the drink menu let alone the food menu. He seemed rather annoyed we were taking time looking over the menu. Bus person took our plates away when we were still eating out appetizers (think chip in hand food in mouth as someone grabs the plate under you) They wanted to take our appetizers away when we weren't done with them and were upset they had to leave them. When they brought our food the runner was mad the appetizer was on the table. Overall, didn't give us enough time to eat, the timing to take away our dishes was way off and they were pretty rude about the process and letting us enjoy our meal. There was no one in the restaurant after the 7pm rush so I don't know why the hurry. Probably won't go back because it's fairly expensive for a rushed meal - I guess it's what you get when it's located in a mall.

    If it has mole on it; get it. I went there with a group, and we had just about everything you can order. I must say that it was the best, most authentic Mexican food I have ever tasted. On top of that, we had two kids with us under five, to which they were more than accommodating. The boys loved watching Esueno handmake our guacamole tableside, and loved our server, Francisco, who may be one of the friendliest, hardworking servers I've come across, and I used to be a server!! We will be back and back and back!!

    I would recommend Besito if you are in the Chestnut Hill area and in the mood for Mexican food. This place is a little on the higher end of the price scale, but not out of control. Besito has a very comfortable atmosphere, lots of candle light and good music that can be best described as Mexican dance music. The menu has many of the standard options as well as some creative options like the Seafood tortilla pie with an avocado sauce that I would highly recommend. The table side guacamole is nicely done and fun to watch. They also have an extensive margarita menu which never hurts. Service was leisurely but attentive. It's not the most memorable meal you'll ever have but is solid.

    The food was delicious...and that is the primary reason one tends to visit a restaurant. Loved the salsa, loved the chips, loved the mole, great plantains, yummy fish tacos, one of my favorite rices, and fun churros at the end. However, it wasn't such a great experience overall. We went on a date night--a Saturday night and had made a reservation. The host tried to seat us at a table surrounded by families with kids. Literally on all sides. An infant cried as we approached the table. As we were paying a pretty penny to have parked our kids with babysitters for the evening so we could be out child-free, this wasn't going to cut it. We declined the table we were offered, and said we would wait as long as it took for another table. We were then seated in the bar, which had very little ambiance, in comparison to the main dining room. The host was very put out by the entire exchange, while we were being totally flexible. We said we'd even visit the mall and come back in 15 mins. if it took awhile for another table to free up. Our waitress was nice but we were rushed through the meal, which was odd because we dropped $100 for the two of us in 45 mins. and expected an "experience" rather than the "fast food" approach we received. And by rushed, I include that plates were cleared before we were done eating and without asking if we were done. It made us anxious, like we were trying to protect our turf. The drinks were strong, though a little sweet for my taste...but worth ordering. We were surprised that the only margarita that could be ordered frozen was the pomegranate margarita...ewww. Still, plenty of other girly drinks to go around. I would definitely return for the food. However, I'd be reluctant to go for a leisurely date night, or girls night out, which is disappointing because at least in the main dining room, there was nice ambiance.

    I don't write many reviews, but found the reviews of this restaurant oddly polarized. My wife and I are from the West Coast, with plenty of family Mexican restaurants. Is this place "authentically" Mexican? No, it's an upscale take on traditional Mexican foods: tacos, enchiladas, etc. We had margaritas, mole enchilada, mix enchiladas, and tres leches. The margaritas were good, though in smaller proportions than, say, Borders, but good nonetheless. The enchiladas were great. The mole was sweet, as expected, and paired well with the chicken. The enchilada mix was really spicy, but had an interesting smoky flavor. The rice and beans was small, but both were also small. The tres leches was a great finish for the meal, the cake was firm and the cream was not overly sweet. What stood out to me was the service. Our waiter was very attentive and made sure to make our visit enjoyable. The music sounds like the Rio soundtrack, but was pleasant and enjoyed by both my wife and I. Some reviewers have said it's overly loud. Maybe it changed since those posts, because the music was fairly quiet. Overall, it was great place for a date night. I will be coming here again.

    We went to Besito yesterday for lunch when the wait for Cheesecake Factory was 40 mins. Four adults, 3 year old and a 13 month baby. We called a fee minutes before arriving and the manager said there was no wait. I guess when we walked in with kids, his feelings changed. He was rude and not very accommodating. Let's just say being seated wasn't a pleasant experience. Quacamole that they make at the table was very good and the drinks were ok. The salad I got was ok but my wife enjoyed her quesadilla. Waiter tried to be helpful but maybe he was just busy. I wouldn't go back

    "Chad's Eats" review of Besito Mexican Cuisine: Mexican (semi upscale) Location: Chestnut Hill, MA Parking: Being at the Chestnut Hill Mall parking is ample and free Decor / Ambiance: Low lit, high energy with avocado carts rolling around. There is a festive ambiance and a beautiful wall of lit candles. This was the eye catcher for me Greeting: We were a bit early for our reservations. They said they would have a table for us shortly. Then a rush of folks came in and it was rather congested and chaotic. I think most of these folks did not have reservations. I had thought the hosts was going to lose track of us but almost to the minute our reservation was for, she grabbed two menus, made her way through the crowd and found us to to say "Your table is ready" and she brought us to our table. Menu mix: Creative classics and some inventive creations with rooted with Mexican influences. Great variety! Water / Bread service: Chips great, salsa bland. Water tasted great, fresh tasting and not a hint of bleach Drink pour: Got a 16 dollar pour of a high end tequila...real light pour. Let's just say the next round was a lower end tequila. We had 1/2 shots of a set of tasting flights at Casa de Pedro in Watertown and those pours were equal to Besito full pour. Food quality: Overall I thought the food quality was fine but didn't wow me like other Mexican restaurants I have been to. I went here for the purpose of having mole sauce. I have never had it. I had the Enchiladas de Mole Poblano. Two big enchiladas in a moat of mole sauce. I found it tasty, lots of depth in flavor, ver rich. For appetizers we got ceviche del dia. It was bland, not the best I have had. I like a nice bright citrus flavor and didn't get it with this. The carne asada tacos were very good served on a soft corn tortilla. My wife had a creative dish of encrusted Mahi Mahi with two sauces which was great. I enjoyed her dish more than mine. I also got a side dish of Mexican street corn which is served cut from the cob which I liked. This was great. Little side crocks of really good Rice and black beans served separately also come with your meal. Your meal ends with some complimentary churros. They were nothing remarkable. Service: Started out friendly and energetic but as soon as a party of 8 sat next to us then all attention shifted to that table. The large party was also read a bunch of specials which we were never told. Value: Aside from the tiny pours I felt the prices for this restaurant class was fair. It would be better if some of these weak points were addressed. Bathrooms: Impeccably clean! Would I return: Unfortunately I am in no hurry to return. I am continuing my search for other authentic Mexican restaurants

    I will be succinct; unfriendly hostess that didn't even make eye contact, waiter took 20 minutes to even take our drink order, food was average, we both ordered margaritas which were definitely watered down and the waiter argued with us and offered no apology. Very disappointing because the decor is beautiful! Never will return.

    In a word -underwhelming. I'm giving this place two stars not because it was especially bad, but when dinners are in the ~$20 range, and no better than any average Mom & Pop Mexican storefront, I think the place should try harder. The staff seems particularly disorganized. They botched the time of our reservation twice, and even with repeated mentions our server was unaware that one of us had a birthday. I disagree with the glowing guac reviews. The tableside prep was fine, but the product was b-l-a-n-d by any standard, even here in spice-challenged New England. The mixed plate and carnitas burrito were more or less adequate, but as noted overpriced for their quality. The one bright spot was the complimentary bag of churros at the end of the meal. They were great! Haven't had any as good anywhere else in Boston. Reminded me of New Mexico. Even so, we won't be going back.

    Besito makes me weep, the food is so good. I can't say anymore. It's just so good. They keep it very dark in the restaurant though. Just FYI, bring a flashlight. If you forget, don't worry, they'll provide you with one so you can see the menu.

    I was really looking forward to trying this place. We finally made our way on a Friday night. We arrived around 5 pm hoping there would not be a long wait. When we arrived there we were told by the hostess it would be 30 minutes. We decided to head to the bar and grab a margarita. After 45 minutes I decided to check in with the hostess again. She was extremely annoyed that I was bothering to check in and said it would be another 10 minutes. After another 25 minutes I was now annoyed so walked back over. She said we were next in line and proceeded to seat a party of 3. We were about to leave when a table miraculously opened. I was hoping the food would make up for the wait. Unfortunately I was wrong. I ordered the filet and it was charred well done and had no flavor. For $35 I would think a bit more attention to detail would be paid to the order. My husband ordered the fajitas and they too were so charred and burnt they were in edible. I will say the cocktails and bartenders were good. Otherwise this would be a 1 star. Overall terrible service with the hostess and the food was inedible. A long expensive night. Thank god for tequila

    In order to garner a 5 star review from me an establishment must be perfect along the following key performance indicators: 1. Team 2. Quality 3. Cost 4. Delivery 5. Safety Besito's is exceptional across all 5!!!! We went to the location in Chestnut Hill on a very busy Saturday night....without a reservation. The hostesses managed to get us sat in a reasonable amount of time and the waitress arrived quickly. The only weakness was the table side made guacamole which lacked salt and lime juice. I am used to Texas made guacamole so my palate may be overly sensitive. For those wanting EXCELLENT Mexican food...this is the place to go!!!

    We tried Besito for the first time tonight as a NYE celebration. It was very busy when we arrived around 6:30, though it emptied out by the time we left around 8pm. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and provided excellent service. The menu is not overly large but offers a good variety of meat, seafood, and vegetarian options. We started off with the table side guacamole. It was fresh and made very-well. We would recommend it. One problem - ours wasn't made table side... The only reason you're paying $11.95 for guacamole is for the experience that's supposed to come along with it. So, my advice, make sure your table side guac is actually made at the table. On the drinks front, I tried the Besito Mojito. It was very good. The drink menu seemed good, with a wide variety of margaritas. We ordered the side of street corn, as well as the plantains. Both were excellent, though the plantains were especially good and are highly recommended. My Wife went with the Quesadilla from the appetizer section as an entree. It was a good portion, and definitely enough for an entree. I ordered the Taco Mixtos. Also very good, and a good portion with leftovers to take home. We ended the night with the tres leche cake. It was very good. Along with the bill you also get a bag of freshly made churros. All-in-all, we enjoyed our experience at Besito.

    We went here last night, Sunday, spur of the moment. The place was packed! We had about a 20 minute wait ahead of us, so we thought we'd have a drink at the bar. Except that every person at the bar was dining, which made it super awkward to lean in and order a drink. I had an idea, and it worked. I explained my predicament to the hostess, Julia. She took my drinks order, 2 red sangrias, (v. Good!) got one of the bartenders right on it. Kathleen, the bartender, carved a space at the corner of the bar, and served us. V. nice. I thought the food was very tasty, and I'm looking forward to returning. The guac was v. good, as was the warm chips with freshly made salsa. We both had the short rib entree our friend recommended. Fantastic! Desserts were all v. good, particularly the pumpkin flan. Churros on the house finished the meal. Looking forward to returning!

    WOW! So happy to have this place so nearby! A surprise post-mother's day lunch date. The chips are so tasty, the salsa so fresh, the table side guacamole was delish and the salad I had was outstanding! Fresh, larger than I imagined and the salad's dressing was excellent too. Hubs had the chicken corn tortillas which were also outstanding. Beyond that the service was exemplary, five star service from Francesco. We left there sated, well...ready to explode, with two sweet worry dolls and two tasty churros.

    My wife and I decided to try Besito at the Chestnut Hill Mall. Let me preface that I have been fortunate enough to have had real Mexican food in Mexico and Los Angeles. We came in on Saturday and the place was hopping. We didn't have a reservation and we are always happy to wait so we did. Our seats were in between two noisy parties so as much as I'm a people person the seats weren't good. Learning point 1. If you go ask for a booth or to eat outside if you want a better eating experience. I've had Ceviche many times and how can you screw it up. I thought Ceviche market price this has got to be good. Seriously Besito?! Ceviche? I understand trying to take food to another level like Asia de Cuba or Oriental de Cuba in Jamaica Plain but it HAS TO actually be BETTER. Thanks to our excellent waiter Paulet we had a nice time with her great service and by wife's dinner choice. The Michelada with a kick very nice! The Churros were tasty too.

    I didn't have high hopes because I'm so picky when it comes to mexican food but was pleasantly surprised. The guac and salsa were to die for plus the chips were fresh and warm. Our group tried several margaritas and they were just ok. We had tortilla pie, the chicken tacos and I had the salmon. Everyone really seemed to love their food. My salmon was perfectly crispy and the plantains were just the way I like them but I thought the mole sauce could have had more flavor. It was too bland for me. One of the best parts of the meal was the warm churros at the end. They were light and crispy just how churros should be! Definitely will look forward to going back the next time I'm in the area!

    I have NO complaints about this place! The atmosphere is wonderful, dark, cozy with GREAT Latin music. We ordered the tortilla soup and the tamale de camarones y elote. They were both wonderful! For apps we all got the enchiladas mixtas, another flavorful and delish plate!!! It was very good and my favorite part it had pieces of sweet plaintains in them ..yum!!! For dessert we got the tres leches....my goodnessssss ..a piece of heaven!!!!! I am one that does not like desserts that are too too sweet, this one was perfect and sweet enough to satisfy a sweet tooth. Overall amazing experience, staff and ambiance! Cannot wait to go back!!!

    My wife and I went for the first time last Friday. The experience was...acceptable. The ambiance and service were both excellent, but the food was inconsistent. We started with the table side guacamole. Acid and salt were MIA. The lack of salt would have been acceptable if the chips were sufficiently salted to compensate. That was not the case. Although we asked for the guac prepared medium, there was a total lack of heat. Considering the novelty of table side guac (and an obvious effort by the staff to push it) I was very surprised at the poor execution. My wife ordered the tacos pastor. The shells and garnishes were quite tasty, but the protein was unseasoned and bland. She was quite disappointed. I had the special enchiladas, which were stuffed with an assortment of seafood and served with a butter cream sauce (I think). In contrast to my wife's meal, it was prepared and seasoned perfectly. Although I did not have a mixed drink, my wife mentioned the house margarita was very tasty. These hiccups are typical of a new restaurant and we'll likely try it again in a few months. If it does not improve we'll probably just make the trek to the Painted Burro when we want Mexican.

    Unimpressed overall. We ordered table side guacamole which was gross. After I told the waitress that she said oh yes that's cause we don't ads salt or citrus to it unless you request it. So basically we sat at the table ourselves making guacamole cause they don't flavor it. Chicken tacos were fatty with you much cheese, not enough true flavor. Drinks were of variable quality.     So this is an odd review. Everything tasted good... Just nothing went right in my mind. The tacos were barely warm (but tasty), the guac was expensive for only one avocado (but tasty) and the house margarita was slow (but delish). So we will go back for one more whack at it... but given what they charge -- it needs to be on point.

    A small step up in food quality from a Chilis. My empanadas were dry and too thick; they clearly not made by hand and not freshly fried. The guacamole was fine but too salty. The chips are thin and crisp, so they were good! The chicken taquitos were a bit tough. My fish tacos- meh, ok. My red wine sangria was also just ok. At the end of the meal I felt really full of food that was mediocre and not worth the price. The food is heavy and dense. It seems good Mexican food is often either very cheap street food or very high end Mexican infusion, leaving places like Besito (not super cheap, and not eclectic) in the bad inbetween- think ole in Cambridge. Besito also misses the mark.

    We went here for lunch a few weeks back and were happy with everything. we got here pretty much right when they opened so it was mostly empty. they give you salsa and chips free, and the chips were warm and tasty. i ordered the chicken quesadilla which was perfect, cheesy and stuffed with the right amount of chicken and veggies. they also give you rice and beans for the table. everything was perfect, the service was excellent as well. it was interesting that they would talk to you in spanish, haha.

    Not so great. Came early on a Saturday night because we heard the wait can be very long, up to two hours. Service was good but food was pretty mediocre. The best part of the meal was the salsa which was excellent. Guacamole was good but nothing special. The Sangria was pretty good. Fish tacos were good but small and the Chicken mole was dry and the mole sauce was meh. There are just too many other food options in Boston and West suburbs to waste your money at Besito. Head down the street to Bernards for quality Chinese or Oishii for excellent sushi.

    I was excited to try this place after the phantom gourmet review. We called at 3 to make reservations in Chestnut hill and they told us we wouldn't need them at 530. We showed up at 515. Not only wouldn't they seat us but they couldn't give us an estimate of how long the wait would be. They were pretentious and rude. The hostess was extremely uppity. Maybe they only serve certain people. No thanks. Better Mexican food and better service can be found elsewhere.

    I took my son for dinner after a long day of baseball, we were exhausted and looking forward to a dinner date together. We unfortunately decided to try Besito in Chestnut Hill. Everything that Sari G from the 7/07/15 review is unfortunately true and more. It took forever for our waitress to come over to even get a drink order in, another 20-30 minutes for a glass of wine for me to show up and from there everything went downhill including trying to pay. NOT ever going back

    just an average mexican restaurant, that happens to be pretty expensive because of the location. It was easy to get a reservation. It is dimly lit inside as well. The guac that they make at the table is great. The chips are great also. Service was a bit slow, but at least the chips/salsa and guac are nice to wait with. The entrees are just ok, but pricey. We had a few different enchiladas and the chili relleno. Nothing blew our mind, just run of the mix american mexican food.

    We really enjoyed Besito. I've tried to make reservations online before, and it's always booked, so I was thinking, "how popular can this place really be?" On a Friday night at 6:30, it was packed! A really good energy, for sure. Our waitress was exceptional. We wanted to take our time -- 1st guac, made tableside, which was terrific, then tacos, then enchilada entrees, then dessert. We were never rushed, and the food was hot and delish. The tacos mixtos in the mini skillet was a little strange -- there was SO MUCH cheese, and you kind of had to dig around in it to get to the meat. The enchiladas mole was amazing, though, and the little churros at the end of the meal were lovely. Also, when we asked to take our leftovers home, they were packed with care in separate containers. It was a bit pricey, but as they say, you get what you pay for. We will definitely be back.

    We were a table of 3 and sat in the dining room. Ordered quac with our chips and salsa and waited for our margaritas. Two of us ordered the Pastor skillet tacos. Pork with pineapple and other yummy things. Sadly, I was really disappointed with the pork. It was so fatty, it was gross. I thought it was just mine the first couple of bites, but my friend said the exact same thing. We both didn't finish ours and I was going to say something, and didn't. I should have, I know. We asked for the drink menu and when it finally came, we waited quite awhile to actually get our drink once we ordered. Not helpful based on our meal. This is the second time I've been here, and I have to say that I'm not thrilled with the food, nor the service. I love the ambiance, and think it should be much better than it actually is. The waitress was so so, but clearly she didn't tend to us as she should. Maybe she was overly busy, who knows. I'm not sure about a next time for this place. That's sad.

    Loved my experience at Besito. Atmosphere was relaxing, yet had an upscale feel. Restaurant itself has many interesting details with the authentic mexican style/flavor which you notice everywhere you look: walls, ceiling, lighting, tables. All I can say it was definitely very tastefully designed. Staff was very friendly and intentive. Food was delicious. Mushroom (I think they used organic mushrooms which is a huge plus) quesadilla was my favorite - probably the best I have ever had in my life. Drinks were also great and not that expensive for such great restaurant. Loved their restroom door handle automatic sanitizor - so smart (have never seen anything like that before). Besito is a wonderful addition to Chestnut Hill! Will be coming back!

    Nice addition to the Chestnut Hill Mall. You can tell they're still working out some kinks but the manager was very attentive. We had the elotes and the tacos vegetales- both were solid but not particularly memorable. I appreciated the churros that came with the bill - those were fantastic!     This is the nice change of pace that I was looking for. My girlfriend and I tried to go to the location in Burlington during our anniversary but wait time was too long so we hit this one on the way home. So glad we did. After making a reservation over the phone, we arrived a bit earlier than expected and was promptly seated despite the small crowd waiting before us. the atmosphere is nice and cozy, but quite upscale from such places like Acapulcos. Our server, Kelsey I believe, was awesome. Very attentive and patient, plus she made a pretty stellar tableside guacamole. The drinks are made well and the prices are a tad steep but the experience makes it all worth it. Definitely looking forward to a return here soon

    Looking forward to this new place! Went to dinner with my family tonight. As background grew up in California eating at lots of great Mexican restaurants. I was a bit disappointed by the general lack of flavor. The good: waiter was very nice and friendly. Ambiance was fabulous. Kids were treated like little kings. The bad: hostess was rude. Could be better: food. You can quickly tell the quality of a Mexican food restaurant by the beans and rice as well as the salsa they serve with their chips. Both the beans and rice were under salted and did not have much flavor. Goya beans straight out of the can have more flavor than the beans they served. The rice followed in the same theme. Beans and rice served with fish tacos at Cheesecake Factory next door taste better My kids had the quesadillas which didn't taste much different than what I would make at home in five minutes. I had the mole enchiladas. The sauce was rich with nice tones of chocolate and a bit of heat - perhaps too sweet for my taste. My wife had the salmon manchmanteles also under seasoned & too sweet. In addition the chicken was dry without much flavor. Very disappointing! Food was also overpriced In the area I would suggest sol azteca on beacon, or Casa Romero off newberry

    I went to Besito with 4 friends on Memorial Day for Dinner. While everyone else thought their food was OK (not great but edible), we joked that although it wasn't great, it wasn't terrible. However I was up half the night with food poisoning. I think it was the shrimp tamales. I phoned the restaurant the next day as a courtesy to tell them to check the shrimp tamales. What is scary is that a friend of mine *also had a friend eat at Besito Chestnut Hill that same night and HE WAS UP all night sick too. I will not go back. 2 people sick at home is more than a coincidence. Something is up with Besito's Cleanliness standards (or lack of)!! Yuck!

    We tried Besito last night and we enjoyed it over all. The highlights were the food and the friendly staff. I ordered skillet tacos - they were excellent. My husband ordered the carne asada appetizer. Which he liked too. We sat at the bar -- it was very busy which is fine and the wait staff was friendly. The guacamole was phenomenal but the salsa was really mushy. Not diced tomatoes but puréed which we were not a fan of. It was dark but they gave us flash lights which I didn't quite understand but no big deal. It was a little pricey but we expected that being in Chestnut hill. Over all it was great but it didn't blow our socks off!!!

    Great new restaurant at Mall at Chestnut Hill. Having dined her many times, I've had an opportunity to try many of the items on the menu. I especially like the guacamole and queso fundido for apps. The enchiladas mixtas are fantastic! The dulce de lech is excellent. The ambiance is as good as the food. I appreciate the extra touches--dolls and churros at the end of the meal and the dog water dish and treats on their outside patio.

    Good service very good taco skillet. I got the combo (steak chicken and chirozo) and it was the perfect blend of spices. Food comes with rice and beans for the table. We got chocolate pudding for dessert and cherreos (sp?). The right amount of food and the cost was reasonable. Like most higher end places they made the guacamole at the table.

    Such tasty high quality Mexican meal! I had the mahi and it was superb! Both sauces, especially the corn, are soooo good. The mariscos de boldin was very flavorful and tasty as was the shrimp dish. The guac was realllyyyy good too, wish it had more than one avocado tho.     Not impressed. When we arrived the restaurant was very crowded and we were thankful for our reservations. This place seemed popular so I was excited for a night of excellent food... but I was a little disappointed. We decided to order a bunch of appetizers and dine tapas style. Unfortunately the waiter delivered all of our appetizers at once (6!) and they were slightly cold. After he delivered our food he checked back every 5 minutes to see if he could clear our plates. I understand that the place was crowded, but that does not mean that you should rush out customers. The food was good, but not great. I would suggest meeting here for drinks and moving on elsewhere for a meal.

    I went there during a quiet time between lunch and dinner, so it was not crowded and all the staff was very attentive. They seem to be doing well for a place that's only been running for a month. Waitress greeted us in both her native Spanish and in English, a nice touch. She brought us margaritas but forgot the salt, which she realized before even handing them to us. She fixed them promptly. Drinks were very tasty. The guac was excellent. We ordered appetizers - empanadas, tacos, and a quesadilla. All were delicious and all the ingredients were very fresh. I am excited to find a decent Mexican restaurant in Boston since there are so few good ones and I hope Besito does well.

    First time at Besito and took a friend for her birthday. Her choice and I was looking forward to trying it. Had a reservation and was seared within 10 min of the res. our waiter had only been there two weeks and was trying too hard. A lot of running around and couldn't answer a number of questions. Manager came over and was very nice bad accommodating. Disappointed in the food. The chips were the best part of the meal. I thought the beans and rice for the table were tasteless and not plentiful. The shredded chicken in my enchilada was fair and not enough cheese on the enchilada . I asked for verdes sauce but it wasn't on the menu. Loved the atmosphere and ambiance, but very disappointed. Like Sol Azteca much better.

    Where to start... 1. It Is NOT Mexican. It is just a far far away imitation of a Mexican restaurant catering the Chestnut Hill upscale crowds. Food is terrible, very expensive for rice and beans. No special Mexican cuisine to justify the dinner menu pricing. Of course, the crowd will pay for anything if it is in Chestnut Hill. 2. Music - If you actually care, Salsa, flamenco are NOT Mexican. I love music but it is very tiring to go to a tapas place, for example, and listen to bachata, salsa. Mexican music is so rich that it is hard to believe they couldn't find something real. By the way, the noise is deafening. No place for real conversations. 3. Hostesses - barely could put their act together 4. We couldn't wait to leave. Lucky me, i was home in 5 minutes. 5. If you are willing to pay the tag for beans and tacos, go local, support your small businesses in the area. Newton Centre has several examples. Besito is just a mall, chain restaurant catering the specific demographics of the suburbs and the trendy over spending pockets of the area. 6. The old restaurant (Charlies) wasn't awesome but it did feel like the neighborhood place where " everyone knew your name". Miss having a place like that in my area.

    My fiancé and his family went to this restaurant for his birthday and I completely regret it. Despite the overwhelming positive reviews on Besito's atmosphere, services and food we were all disappointed with Besito. We arrived earlier than our reservation time and we were sat right away. The dinner menu is one page and we were scouring to see what we could settle with. I asked to substitute my salmon manchamenteles with plaintains because I'm allergic to avocados and my waiter said "sorry we cannot do that." Our waiter also did not comprehend English thoroughly. Besito's culture is to largely hire people that represent their culture of family, hard work and genuine love for food. I didn't get any sense of those components in our waiter, he offered unfinished explanations as to why I could not substitute anything on the menu. That said I had a flank of salmon on the plate with a scribble of sour cream. My salmon was bland and flavorless. My tomatillo sauce I requested was watery and also disappointed my hopes to somehow add flavor to my lonely salmon on the plate. All of us were disappointed with our meal and service. I also noticed that our waiter did not talk to the manager about my peanut and avocado allergy so I talked to the manager about my allergy. We were asked if this was the first time at the restaurant yet the manager did not come to our table to introduce himself and asked if we were pleased with anything. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

    Besito exceeded all of my expectations. Our waiter, Felix, was the best! I had chicken enchilada soup - they serve you a very small portion first to see if you like it - then a big bowl with the broth served (poured) from a hot tea pot. I also had a quesadilla filled with yummy veggies and cheese. Could not finish all the food. The management came over twice and the water glasses were refilled constantly. They serve two warm churros (comp) after dinner. Delish. They also served a special cake for my birthday celebration (comp). We had res. on Friday night. There was a line out the door when we left.     Ok. The first mistake I made was not ordering the table side guacamole. I have read so many reviews that make it sound stupendous. I would have liked to try that but I just can't go back because the food I actually did order was kinda nasty. Too bad BC I really do dig this kind of food. Well we did get a free hat so I guess that was a plus. I'm on the fence about this place. I would go back if someone else was paying the bill

    Went here last night for the first time. Overall it was average. The restaurant has promise but I was put off by the very dirty dishes on my table. I asked for a replacement dish as the dish I had felt like there was caked on food from a prior diner. The replacement they gave us was even worse with actual pieces of food still hanging on. 3rd plate was acceptable. The fish taco appetizer was very good, I would go back for that alone. We split a salad with a seasoned chicken on it, the salad itself was so overloaded with tortilla chips we had to remove that layer to get to the greens. The chicken was not that warm and was a bit overcooked but tasted pretty good. The salad was decent, but there were these hard, slightly chewy things in the salad we couldn't identify, initially thought they were sweet potato but they had an odd taste. The host kept coming to our table asking us how things were, we really didn't want to be bothered that much. The waiter wasn't as attentive as he should have been mainly because he was making table side guacamole for so many tables that he couldn't fulfill being a waiter. Suggestion to management: Have someone designated to do that dog and pony show. Price was very expensive for what you get, and I don't feel this place is good enough to warranty $18-20 dishes and $11-$14 drinks. As a side note, the overbearing mexican music is just too loud, it needs to be turned down a few decibels. It's screaming "We're mexican, we're mexican!!" I get it, it's upscale mexican food. Also there's a slightly frightening picture of what I thought looked like two bulls eating each other's heads that just seemed a bit tacky. Maybe a better choice of mexican style artwork would have fit the bill. Service was slow, food was overall average with a few bright spots (guacamole, fish tacos). Let's hope they work out their kinks and lower their pricing or they won't last long.

    The place just opened so the fourth star is aspirational. Their special margarita is way too sweet. The table side guac is great but tiny. Tacos are meh. I like their social mission and have hopes for them since they are 5 minutes from my house.

    A few thoughts on this restaurant: * I think the food and drinks are good, not great. It is certainly better than the other mexican restaurant in Newton, but not marginally better, and for the prices they charge, the portion size should be a bit bigger. For example, the guacamole (which could use a bit more flavoring) was a pretty small portion for two people. And the iron skillet tacos come in a skillet of queso, but by the time I received it the queso had congealed and made the removal of the chicken tough to do. * I think they are creating an artificial wait. We went in there Saturday night, and while they claimed all day that they were fully booked, numerous table sat empty for the whole hour we were there. When people came in to ask for a table, they were told over an hour wait, even though there were a lot of tables empty. And I don't think this was because reservations were no-shows. * I think the other reviews on here, at least the majority of them, are PR-related. This just opened Friday, but I understand they had media in prior to that. The reviews just seem too buzz wordy and PR-ish.

    Went here on a Wednesday night with my husband and had to wait about 20 mins since we did not have a reservation. Kudos to them for having a wait on a Wednesday night. It appears the expectation is to be a high end Mexican restaurant, which is not a common concept. Their staff could use more training on professionalism and customer service to match the overall image. The food was "okay", but perhaps I had higher expectations. It was over priced for the dishes that would've been less and more authentic anywhere else. I'm torn whether I'd return because I didn't enjoy the food, but I would fairly say everyone should at least give it a try and support a new restaurant in the area.

    Living in Chestnut Hill affords me an abundance of new eateries, such as "Brio Tuscan Grille", "Seasons 52", "Davios", "Del Frisco's Grille" and the new and improved, "Bernards" once located in the Chestnut Hill Mall. My boyfriend and I decided to try "Besito's Mexican Restaurant", new to both of us, to celebrate my 21st birthday last weekend. It is located in the space once occupied by the dark and dingy "Charley's" restaurant in the Chestnut Hill Mall. We thoroughly enjoyed the authentic Mexican food they boast in a vibrant, hacienda-like environment. The service was superb. I ordered the Tacos Mixtas and my boyfriend had the Enchiladas Carnitas, each dish was around $20.00. To be duly noted: "Customers' loyalty helps to serve 1,500 meals each week in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico where the company has sponsored and helped to build school kitchens. Local mothers find employment by cooking. Local children get what is often their only nutritious meal of the day, so they can concentrate on what they do best: learning." This is a wonderful opportunity to support a great cause while experiencing an affordable, fabulous dining experience.

    I've eaten here three times now, and I'm not very impressed. I've had a different meal each time, and they've all been mediocre at best. I think the place is overpriced, and the table-side guacamole is so annoying because all they try to do is sell you on it because it's a huge profit item, then try to upsell you once they come to make it ("Oh, this only serves two people so you need 3 orders"), and the cart takes up the entire restaurant. I would only go back if someone REALLY wanted to eat there. Bring your wallet, and expect for it to be empty when you leave if you plan on having a few drinks.

    Visited for the 2nd time today for lunch but probably won't go back (unless I'm sitting at the bar). Both times we visited we had a good sized party but the place was more then half empty so that shouldn't have presented any issues for the staff yet both times we felt service was lacking. Very slow to get the table side guacamole service and the waiter that prepared it was not experienced. If I go to a Mexican restaurant that offers this service it's so much about the presentation. Maybe I'm biased having lived in Santa Fe, NM for a time but wasn't impressed. After a very long wait for the entrees they had one of the orders wrong so one member of our party had to wait an additional 5 minutes for their meal. The food quality both visits was fine but most people don't have 2 hours to spill for lunch. Next time will just visit the local Acapulcos. Not as fancy but I know the food is good and the service is quick (and the air conditioner usually works).

    Horrible.......Salsa was disgusting.....full of garlic, and sent it back.... Sangria was bitter and tasteless, Chicken Mole Enchiladas tasted like canned chicken with watered down, sugary chocolate sauce with rubbery pancakes.....Rice was flavored with some sort of oily condiment, back beans, ditto......Fish we had was waaay too salty.....Will never return.....Don't waste your hard earned money here....I would liken this to bad cafeteria food. Everyone I spoke to in the mall this evening who has eaten here agrees that this place is horrible and it will not last. What a waste of space in the lovely Chestnut Hill Mall.....I would give Besito No stars, except the servers were really nice......Taco Bell has much better food......seriously....!!

    We went here for my husbands birthday- the food was delicious and the service terrific but I had to write this review at 4 stars because they totally screwed up my husband's birthday dessert. I made the reservation on open table and in the comments I mentioned it was my husband's birthday and I wanted a special dessert. Then I called and asked what the dessert was and they told me tres leches and I asked for the chocolate pudding they said sure and that was that. Then the day before they called to confirm and again I made mention of the birthday chocolate pudding they said sure and we were done. When we got there we ate a great dinner and the waiter asked if we wanted dessert- I was annoyed because I had already mentioned it 3 different times in three different ways and it would have been nice if it could have been a surprise! I said we did order something and could he please check with the hostess. I waited a bit and nothing came and my husband was almost done with his coffee. I got up and spoke with the hostess. A few minutes later he came back with a white cake and I said no it is supposed to be a pudding. Finally it came with no candle or any fanfare. I am not mad at the last part because maybe they are low key about birthdays I am mad that despite clear instructions on my part the royally messed up my husband's birthday dessert. Did it ruin our night? No. Would I go back again? Definitely! Was it annoying and unprofessional? Absolutely!

    Food was great. Service was attentive and great. Ambiance was very nice and upscale. It was a perfect night. The chips were delicious as was the table side guac. The entrees were very good and a bit different. Not the same old chain restaurant Mexican food. Prices are a bit higher - but it is that type of nicer place. Not a hole in the wall Mexican spot. It is at a high end shopping center so obviously you will pay more. But the quality was very high. I would go back time and time again. Loved this place. It is crowded so be prepared to wait a bit and to have it be a bit louder because it is full. All in all a great night!

    Yes, we had the often-cited made-by-your-tableside guacamole. Yes, it was good. The service was also responsive, but the food that followed the guacamole was completely tasteless (four of us, three dishes, including enchiladas, none of which had any real taste, particularly the Ensalada Mexicana, in which the chicken was not only tasteless but rubbery). The location is good (Chestnut Hill Mall) and the aesthetics of the restaurant were fine. Truly, the food was so lacking in flavor that all other good aspects of the restaurant couldn't compensate!

    I was disappointed. The food was only OK and the manager was kind of a jerk. The only good part about our trip was the waitress. She was very attentive and apologetic when things were taking too long. First we were placed under a table where my wife was getting dropped on from a leak in the ceiling. The manager brought us to a new table but clearly wasn't happy about it. Then the sangria we ordered took forever to arrive. Our waitress came over twice to apologize for how long out was taking. Eventually she came over and said she was getting the manager to make it and bring it over himself. After about 5 minutes he did that but he didn't say a word. He just slammed the glasses and pitcher on the table then poured 2 glasses out, spilling a bunch in the process. Then he walked away, never having said anything. The sangria was pretty tasty, though. Eventually our food came and like I said, it was only OK. The tableside guacamole was the pretty good but the avocados were not quite ripe enough. I had the mole enchiladas for my meal. The mole sauce was not as flavorful as I've had from other places. My wife got the shrimp tacos and said that they were decent, but not worth the price. We also had the street corn which was probably the best part. It had a nice smoky flavor that I really liked and it was already stripped off the cob so it was not messy to eat. I thought that maybe after having to wait so long for our drinks and food that maybe the manager would take something off the bill or throw in a small dessert for free but he never did. Basically I wouldn't recommend it. Too bad, because I had heard good things before I went.

    I went here with my two friends for New Year's Eve. The service was alright. The food and drinks were delicious! I've been to the Burlington location multiple times and love it so decided to try the Chestnut Hill location since it's closer. However, I wish I never did! My two friends left cash and I asked them to put my portion on my card. Well funny that my receipt had the exact amount and then when I checked my bank account days later.... The entire check was taken out of my card. Where did the cash go we left for our waitress! The manager was extremely rude to me and didn't care that I was unhappy about the whole situation. So I will never be coming here again. They have only been open for 3 months and this is already going on! I'll drive the extra 20 minutes to the Burlington location next time and not get robbed.

    Disappointing. Guacamole was not ripe. Mexican salad was bland. Enchiladas Mole was OK, but lacked cheese The side of beans was watery. The salsa, good, but again too watery for me, which leads to messy eating. The bar staff seemed somewhat ,unaware (the bearded guy) or alternatively upset/confused by our asking a lot of questions about their tequilas. Overall, it was very frustrating to visit our new local Mexican joint, for which we had real hopes. For our area, Cafe Sol Azteca still has the good food and some sense of soul.     Friends picked this place and I was hugely disappointed when I realized it's a mall restaurant. From out of town in Boston for a weekend, I wasn't looking to sample local mall chain food. I ended up being pleasantly surprised. The place is noisy and crowded, but the servers at the bar were friendly and attentive (one even gave me a sample of a drink I saw her make for another customer). The drinks were pretty good. Our waitress was delightful. We started with their table made guacamole which was delicious (though I thought the tortillas were a bit salty). Everything we ordered was excellent and served hot (I highly recommend the chicken tacos and Mexican corn). There was a long wait to get a table and the service is slow, so don't go if you're looking for a quick meal, but if you have time to sit, relax and enjoy a good meal and fun atmosphere, give it a shot.

    This is the best Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. The food is very fresh and tasty. They use a great range of spices so the tastes are interesting and not just spicy hot. The staff is wonderful. They are attentive and fast. I love that the bilingual conversations. The guacamole is created at your table and is the best ever. The drinks are amazing too. I can't wait to go back. I hope they open one in Boston.

    Had an amazing meal at Besito this week! My husband and I are very hard to please when it comes to Mexican food, being from Southern California. Despite trying to find quality Mexican food in New England for the past few years, we haven't found a restaurant that offers quality, authentic Mexican cuisine...until now! What a treat it was to find Besito! Amazingly fresh ingredients and authentic flavors that are so hard to find this far north of the border. We had the shrimp tacos (prepared with beer batter, so reminiscent of the ones we've had in the Yucatan), the costillas, and the enchiladas de mole---all superb, especially the rich, beautiful mole sauce, which equaled the mole we've had in Mexico City! Super attentive, welcoming and gracious owner, general manager and staff! I can't speak more highly about this restaurant. We'll definitely be back for more!

    We went to this semi-new restaurant (I think the hostess said they opened in November) and were pleasantly surprised! I arrived before my friend, and was greeted at the door instantly. The hostess was very polite and complimentary! Killing some time while I waited, I asked him what he would recommend, and without thinking, he named off 5 dishes, no pauses in between. It didn't sound like he was giving me a memorized speech, so I was impressed. My friend arrived and we were then instantly seated. It was early, the place was empty, but by the time we left, the tables were occupied. We started off with table side guacamole, which was fresh and delicious! We then got some margaritas. I got the Classic margarita, and my friend selected the Pepino one. I was satisfied with mine, but the Pepino one was overpowering and did not agree with our taste buds- so I would not recommend that one. Our dinner selections were on point, enchiladas carnitas, and Pastor iron skillet tacos. Generous portion size and nothing to complain about. At the end, our waitress asked if we wanted a dessert menu, and I had looked at my friend and said "of coarse we want dessert for your birthday!" Later on, without looking at the dessert menu or saying anything to the waitress, she had brought out a Tres Leche cake with a candle! I was surprised and pleased that she had heard me and brought that to our table! When our bill arrived, we were given miniature figurines to put under our pillows later on to ward off evil spirits, and a small bag of warm churros!! Overall, great experience, friendly and attentive staff, and great atmosphere!

    Decent Mexican food. Not the best I have ever had, but not the greatest. The wait staff was wonderful, knowledgeable, and very attentive. We had their in house guacamole which was made in front of us and tasted amazing. Probably the best part of the night. I had a make-your-own taco sort of dish. With the amount of toppings given, they could have given me a few extra tortilla wraps. They had given me five, 4" wraps which couldn't hold much. After I exhausted the wraps, I ended up mixing the rest of my toppings and eating them as is. The flavors were good, but not bursting. My fiance got a salmon dish which was also very good, but not phenomenal. This being a fairly new restaurant, I see a lot room for improvement.

In addition to the guacamole we got the crab cake and a friend ordered the tortilla chicken soup for appetizers. Both were good, but the star was the guacamole. For my entree I ordered the Pastor tacos. The pastor is a nicely flavored pork with tiny pieces of pineapple. It comes in a skillet with a couple sauces and a small salad. It also comes with rice and beans. The tortilla was a small corn tortilla. They are about the size of the palm of a hand, so they are small. They do say that they would give you more if needed. I didn't really care for the tortilla to be honest. The pork was really flavorful and I could just enjoy eating it as is. A friend got the salad with a chipolte cream dressing and steak. The steak was tender and flavorful. I may order that if I go again. When giving the check they gave churros (enough for everyone to have 1). It was so good! Overall I had a nice experience and would definitely go back. Some other reviews mentioned poor service, so I just wanted to note that I had no issues. Asia was our waitress and she was really good.

    Not your Average Mexican Place Arrived around 6 from work and restaurant was full, yet not loud or crowded. We were greeted right away and seated at a comfortable table, quickly greeted by our server and the fun began. Fresh guacamole made table-side to out liking and the food was brought out quickly. The food is not what you will get elsewhere. Amazing fresh take on Latino cuisine, the staff is amazing and the atmosphere is awesome. Family friendly and reasonably priced. You HAVE to try this place.

    Waiter was great. We didn't have a reservation and they accommodated us immediately on a Saturday night. The ambiance is wonderful. I got the Bessito margarita, well two and both were terrific. Food - I ordered the steak dish with plantains on the skillet - the food was Luke warm! I like my food hot, especially on a skillet!!! Also, this is a "Mexican" restaurant, however it doesn't taste authentically Mexican, just a chain.

    The ambiance is nice and our waitress was funny and friendly. The food was overpriced for the salmon I ordered, especially it being dried out. My sister got the enchilada carnitas which was just okay as well. The complimentary chips and salsa were delish. The table side guacamole was okay, just needed a bit more salt. The flan was really delicious but a small piece. We were full though so a small piece was just right. We just didn't expect it to be essentially bite sized. Would come again if there was a party or get together but not a place I would just choose to go to for a bite.

    Considering how much I love Mexican food, I haven't found that much I like in Massachusetts. Perhaps we are too far from the border. This is a typical, suburban mall chain restaurant in the old Charley's location. It was packed the first Saturday night we tried to go. Make a reservation for busier times. Wait an hour? I think not. We made a reservation for later in the week and returned. Service was very friendly and I liked that they tried to engage you in Spanish. The chips and salsa were very good. I had the Tacos de Pescado app. The fish was so fried that I could barely taste it. I was excited to try the Enchiladas de Mole Poblano, but it was pretty basic and boring. Chicken, queso, onion, and cilantro in a tasteless Mole sauce. The food was OK, but I found it dull, lacking in flavor and spice, and not as good as nearby Cafe Sol Azteca. They brought me a huge glass of sangria, but not a buzz could be found. Pretty much, an OK place for Americans to try Mexican food, but I thought the food itself was rather lacking. For more authentic and better Mexican food, I would suggest Taqueria El Amigo in Waltham.

    I went here with a friend after work for dinner. We ate out on the patio which was nice because it's so dimly lit inside. The waitress was friendly enough. We ordered the guac which came right out, but it was premade not made at the table. This might be because we were on the patio. It took a real long time for the main course to get to our table. It wasn't that busy and it was a wednesday. We both got the budin de mariscos. It was pretty good. Nothing that really special. The main gripe I had was the price. We both split the bill down the middle and we both paid around $40 each including tip. We didn't order drinks either. I think the price is a little high especially the guac which is $12. I know it's in Chestnut Hill but still it was overpriced for what it is. I don't think I will go back, just because it was average food for a high price.

    Absolutely fabulous and so good. The service is outstanding and the servers are very attentive to your needs and spice requirements. The decor is very nice and the guacamole made at the table is very tasty. I would highly recommend the iron skillet tacos and the roasted corn. For dessert the Tres Leches is extremely satisfying.

    Love this new mexican restaurant so much!! It is beside the cheesecake factory in the Chestnut Hill Mall. The restaurant is new, quite big and everything is neat. The servers are all friendly and not to forget the delicious fooodd! Don't forget to order the table side guacamole and the panquesito de jaiba they are the best!

    Yum! I had a delicious meal here and can't wait to come back. The Mexican chopped salad was amazing and big enough to save for the next day.... When it was scrumptious again! The salad is fresh, chicken well seasoned, and there are even bits of Mexican corn and sweet potatoes throughout. Loved the warm tortilla chips and the passion fruit iced tea which comes in a little square pitcher. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the complimentary churros: tasteless and immediate heartburn. But I'd definitely recommend this place otherwise! Olé

    Went at an odd hour during the weekday. Greeted by a server in Spanish, asked for a bigger table even though we are only a table of 2. Server rejected us and kept telling us it is for big parties even though there only only 3 tables of customers. Got pretty upset and had to talk to the GM and she was very kindly brought us to a big table. Now to the food. They started us off with salsa and tortilla. Tortilla tasted really fresh. 1. Table guacamole. Made fresh in front of you and you get to choose rhe spiciness. Great for people like me who cannot handle hot. 2. Melted cheese with oinions and peppers. I don't like onions but I was able to enjoy this dish. 3. Main course- pork and pineapple tacos. 4. Main course- Short ribs. The outside of the meat was marinated very well but the meat felt boiled and not much taste in the middle 5. side of corn 6. side of plantains. (def get this) If you are not in a rush, you should take your time and enjoy their music. Makes you feel like you are somewhere else. Overall experience, other than the fact that it's a carbs meal, I will recommend this place for their food, environment and music. Definitely go at odd hours. They also give you a small doll in the end to put under your pillow to take away bad dreams.

    Went to Besito again tonight, I have been a number of times. I still feel that they offer a decent product for the price. However, tonight I went with a party of 5 people and to say the service was rushed - would be an understatement. We were ushered in, the server appeared and orders were taken whether we were ready or not. Our drinks weren't even ordered. We arrived at 6:45 and were deposited on the sidewalk at 8:05 - way too fast for a party of 5 in no hurry to go anywhere. Our table was cleared and cleaned while we were in the middle of conversation. Not a great experience. Also, I asked someone to bring me the menu so I could recheck the wine list and my server told me "not to do that again - only ask me for things." Odd?

    The first thing you notice when you walk in is the atmosphere. Great ambiance, with lively salsa music and the candlelights all lined up on the wall! I loved the mask decoration that hung over some of the fixtures, really intriguing. We can tell it was busy. We expected at least a 25 minute wait. Luckily, a table opened up for us. Our server Kelly was such a sweetheart. She made us a really mean guacamole, which was so good that I was licking the serving spoon. The trouble came with our food. My pescada con pipian y atole was unbearably dry. My companion, who ordered the salmon manchamanteles, also found her fish to be overcooked. Our waitress was very apologetic when we told her, and said that she'll send the manager over. The manager was definitely taking his time, as he took nearly 15 minutes to get to us. When he did finally arrive, it was pretty obvious he really didn't care that much. Overall, great environment, delicious drinks, lovely server and killer guacomole. But someone might want to teach the kitchen staff how to cook a fish

    I happened to stop in on National Tequila Day. Well why not! I got the Besito margarita, which was really delicious and their top seller for good reason. I also ordered a chicken quesadilla and a side of their plantains, both extremely delicious. The entrees also come with sides of rice and beans, so you are pretty much guaranteed to walk out stuffed. They also have chips and salsa when you sit down, and the salsa is some of the best I've had. The sinks in the bathroom have personal dual Dyson hand dryers which are pretty nifty, especially after a drink or two. The staff at the bar where we sat was friendly, despite the onslaught of tequila being ordered in celebration of this wonderful tequila day. The best perk of all was a little churro to go after the meal and a little worry doll to keep the happiness alive until the next Besito visit.

    First visit was very good. Table side guacamole is often great but inconsistent - depends on who makes it. The next three visits were increasingly mediocre. Three strikes.... On last visit, several dishes arrived cold. Sent them back. Took forever. Some at the table had already finished their entrees. When replacements arrived they were overcooked, dry and lukewarm. Waiter and manager were pretty indifferent and seemed annoyed with us. This pace started off strong but has become typical mall fare. There are much better in the area.

    Could have been so much better... Besito is located in the Chestnut Hill Mall. A Mexican cuisine chain, it adds some variety to the restaurants in the shopping mall area. The ambiance is nice (simple and warm). The service was helpful. I especially liked that the servers try initially to engage you in Spanish. It gives a very authentic feel. Unfortunately, the food does not quite do the same. The menu provides a number of staples from the Mexican cuisine from tacos to enchiladas. They start you off with salsa and tortilla chips. The salsa is not that memorable. We then had the empanadas with mushrooms and cheese. They lacked any distinct flavor. The mushroom provided a sweet flavor but lacking salt there was no savory "counterpunch". For a meal, I ordered the encrusted mahi mahi which had a good flavor and seemed fresh. The problem was that the fish portion was actually smaller than the palm of my hand and very thin. I was quite hungry after finishing it. My wife had the chicken tacos and seemed to have difficulty constructing the tacos herself from the small cluttered skillet of ingredients. There did not seem to be much chicken. The platanos (sweet) were good. For dessert, we each had a Mexican hot chocolate which was pretty good but lacking the spice to which I have grown accustomed. The meal ended with some homemade churros which were pretty good. It was a nice touch to get a Besito keychain light and worry doll to take home. Unfortunately, we came for the food and it disappointed.

    First of all I would love to say is this restaurant had such amazing amazing customer service and ambiance. Food all over was top and over more delicious then I expected. Hallel was our server she gave awesome customer service and took really good care of us. Not once did she have a frown on her face smiles from the beginning till we left. Over all experience was far more then any of us expected. Will def return and thank you for your great hospitality:). All over 5++++++++ stars deserved for great service and amazing food...!!!!

    This was one of the best experience I've had in a restaurant. At every part of the evening, I was wowed. We arrived a bit early for our reservation, and the hostess was incredibly accommodating. She acknowledged our special occasion and said they were waiting on a special table to be cleared, for which we were more than happy to wait. Every associate I encountered was professional, friendly, smiling, courteous, and helpful. We were given waters as soon as we were seating, and chips and salsa soon followed. Our server, Jen, was fun, exciting, engaging, attentive, and prompt. She had lots of recommendations, and was very helpful and knowledgable. The ambiance of the restaurant was fantastic. I loved the decor, the furniture, the lighting, and especially the ceiling! They use real candles at the table, which is a huge plus. They played Salsa and Merengue music, which I really enjoyed. There are so many little surprises and features of this restaurant to tie in Mexican culture, which makes this a truly special restaurant. Most importantly, the food was phenomenal. I especially enjoyed the guacamole made table-side, which you can select your spiciness, and the crab cakes. My friend and I both ordered a flight of tequila shots, which all were so excellent you didn't need to chase it with lime or salt. The qualify was so good. We also really enjoyed the margaritas and mojitos. I will definitely be back to Besito again!!!

    I went to Besito on Saturday night for dinner. We had reservations for 8:45 pm. Even though the place was extremely busy, we were promptly seated at the time of our reservation. I ordered the La Casa Margarita. It wasn't too strong, but the right amount of alcohol so you didn't have too much of the nasty tequila taste. The combination of pomegranate and tangerine juices made it a delicious supplement to my meal. We started off with a complimentary side of chips and salsa for the table. The chips were flavorful and warm. I did not care for the salsa. It had an odd taste. I typically do not like really chunky salsa, but the salsa Besito uses was more watery than I usually like. The restaurant gives you a side of sour cream for the table, which I appreciated. Most places charge extra to add a spoonful of sour cream to your meal. I ordered the Tacos Res which consisted of grilled skirt steak, pico de gallo, melted cheese, shredded lettuce and chile and avocado sauces. You also get a side of rice and black beans for the table. I expected my tacos to come assembled, but you have to put them together yourself, which can get a little messy. The tacos are not what I expected - the soft shells were tiny, about four inches - but were delicious. You get about six to eight soft shells. The meat was delicious and juicy, and the sauces were flavorful. The only thing I didn't like was the cheese. Taste-wise, there was nothing wrong with it; however, the skillet it came on was hot, so it was all melted. By the time it cooled down, it became more difficult to scoop it off the skillet onto my taco. We opted to not get dessert, but they gave us complimentary churros with our check. Make sure you eat them when you get them, as they are delicious warm! The server also gave us a Besito keychain and a little Mexican "anti-worry" toy. Apparently you put it under your pillow at night to ward off any worries. I'm not sure if these touches are just because of the restaurant's recent opening. I hope to be back!

    First the ambience was perfect, I was treated as a first class customer from the moment they open the door, in an effort to achieve a genuine experience their service staff greet you and use basic conversational Spanish to go the extra mile including an authentically used "buen provecho" when your food items arrive to table. I had several dishes including a house margarita Elotes de la calle Enchiladas Mixtas Guacamole "eh-spicy" Sopa de Tortilla Everything was fantastic, and just to assure you that this was not a paid review the only thing I did not fully appreciate from my visit was scented candles at the bar, I hope that is something they change because other than that I had a perfect experience. I would rather smell of the food then a scented candle. They are new, but are paying attention to detail..

    We ate at Besito to celebrate our anniversary, since it falls on Cinco de Mayo. My review should be 4.5 stars, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since the food was rather special, and since I feel they get dinged for fast service, which can be easily misinterpreted as being rushed. We started with the tableside guacamole, which (along with the chips and salsa) was delicious. I had the boneless short ribs, my wife the chile rellenos. My ribs were full of flavor, again beyond what you find in most mexican restaurants. My wife doesn't favor Mexican goat cheese, so she didn't love the rellenos filling, but we both agreed that the peppers were excellent. The grilled corn side was very special. Besito serves long-grained rice, so I especially enjoyed it (more than standard Mexican style rice). The black beans were the only dish that I felt was ordinary. Finally, the churros (in a bag) were delicious - hot, with a slightly gooey center and crispy on the outside. For drinks, the margaritas were excellent - strong, with good mix, and reasonably-priced. Service was very friendly and efficient. They do swoop in soon after you seem to stop eating, and their way of asking if you're done is somewhat indirect, so there is a moment where you feel that they are being presumptuous for removing the plates (even though they are correct in doing so). The food comes very quickly out of the kitchen, so it is natural that some people would feel rushed. On the other hand, you will never feel like you are being ignored. Ambience is dark (it's hard to read the drink menu), and the music is loud but fun. You're in the Chestnut Hill Mall, so parking is free and relatively plentiful. Prices are somewhat higher than most Mexican places, but so is the quality. Portions are generous, and the churros are free (you can skip the desert). Besito is a good place when you want Mexican food that is above the norm.

    Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing..but, I had the iron skillet pork tacos. The pork was overcooked, under salted and just lacking flavor overall. The salsa however was outstanding. For dessert we had the flan which seemed pumpkin based ..was rather sweet and I didn't quite care too much for the texture. Not smooth or cold enough for my palate. I will however definitely give them another chance..specially for the table-side Guacamole which looks amazing.

    Where do I begin..... Decor- lovely, dark, cozy, and just a nice space overall. Service - the waiter was not pleasant at ALL. He assumed that because I was Latin that I did not deserve the same service as my Caucasian counterparts. That made me very sad. I was rushed, and when I asked questions, he barely answered them and then would walk away. Food- we got the shrimp tacos and crab cake. The shrimp were okay. The crab cake was not good at all. The sauce that it sat on was overpowering and took away from the crab cake. Steak skewer / shrimp Skewer- we got one of each. The steak was ordered medium, and it came well done. It was literally three bite size pieces of meat with 4 large jalapeños and and two Chorizos. It just did not taste great. The shrimp skewer tasted much better although underwhelming in and of itself. Dessert - probably the best part of the night aside from the chips and salsa. We got the Flan and Tres Leches. Mediocre as well. For this price, just go ahead and get authentic tapas and go to Bocado or Toro. Much better. The quality of their food will leave you begging for more. This place was just not all that people are making it out to be. Sorry.

    The food was pretty good - service was pretty horrible. The atmosphere is really cool so my friend and I were looking forward to drinks and dinner around 7pm on a Thursday. Chips came out quick and the waiter came to take our order quick - but didn't give us time to look at the drink menu let alone the food menu. He seemed rather annoyed we were taking time looking over the menu. Bus person took our plates away when we were still eating out appetizers (think chip in hand food in mouth as someone grabs the plate under you) They wanted to take our appetizers away when we weren't done with them and were upset they had to leave them. When they brought our food the runner was mad the appetizer was on the table. Overall, didn't give us enough time to eat, the timing to take away our dishes was way off and they were pretty rude about the process and letting us enjoy our meal. There was no one in the restaurant after the 7pm rush so I don't know why the hurry. Probably won't go back because it's fairly expensive for a rushed meal - I guess it's what you get when it's located in a mall.

    If it has mole on it; get it. I went there with a group, and we had just about everything you can order. I must say that it was the best, most authentic Mexican food I have ever tasted. On top of that, we had two kids with us under five, to which they were more than accommodating. The boys loved watching Esueno handmake our guacamole tableside, and loved our server, Francisco, who may be one of the friendliest, hardworking servers I've come across, and I used to be a server!! We will be back and back and back!!

    I would recommend Besito if you are in the Chestnut Hill area and in the mood for Mexican food. This place is a little on the higher end of the price scale, but not out of control. Besito has a very comfortable atmosphere, lots of candle light and good music that can be best described as Mexican dance music. The menu has many of the standard options as well as some creative options like the Seafood tortilla pie with an avocado sauce that I would highly recommend. The table side guacamole is nicely done and fun to watch. They also have an extensive margarita menu which never hurts. Service was leisurely but attentive. It's not the most memorable meal you'll ever have but is solid.

    The food was delicious...and that is the primary reason one tends to visit a restaurant. Loved the salsa, loved the chips, loved the mole, great plantains, yummy fish tacos, one of my favorite rices, and fun churros at the end. However, it wasn't such a great experience overall. We went on a date night--a Saturday night and had made a reservation. The host tried to seat us at a table surrounded by families with kids. Literally on all sides. An infant cried as we approached the table. As we were paying a pretty penny to have parked our kids with babysitters for the evening so we could be out child-free, this wasn't going to cut it. We declined the table we were offered, and said we would wait as long as it took for another table. We were then seated in the bar, which had very little ambiance, in comparison to the main dining room. The host was very put out by the entire exchange, while we were being totally flexible. We said we'd even visit the mall and come back in 15 mins. if it took awhile for another table to free up. Our waitress was nice but we were rushed through the meal, which was odd because we dropped $100 for the two of us in 45 mins. and expected an "experience" rather than the "fast food" approach we received. And by rushed, I include that plates were cleared before we were done eating and without asking if we were done. It made us anxious, like we were trying to protect our turf. The drinks were strong, though a little sweet for my taste...but worth ordering. We were surprised that the only margarita that could be ordered frozen was the pomegranate margarita...ewww. Still, plenty of other girly drinks to go around. I would definitely return for the food. However, I'd be reluctant to go for a leisurely date night, or girls night out, which is disappointing because at least in the main dining room, there was nice ambiance.

    I don't write many reviews, but found the reviews of this restaurant oddly polarized. My wife and I are from the West Coast, with plenty of family Mexican restaurants. Is this place "authentically" Mexican? No, it's an upscale take on traditional Mexican foods: tacos, enchiladas, etc. We had margaritas, mole enchilada, mix enchiladas, and tres leches. The margaritas were good, though in smaller proportions than, say, Borders, but good nonetheless. The enchiladas were great. The mole was sweet, as expected, and paired well with the chicken. The enchilada mix was really spicy, but had an interesting smoky flavor. The rice and beans was small, but both were also small. The tres leches was a great finish for the meal, the cake was firm and the cream was not overly sweet. What stood out to me was the service. Our waiter was very attentive and made sure to make our visit enjoyable. The music sounds like the Rio soundtrack, but was pleasant and enjoyed by both my wife and I. Some reviewers have said it's overly loud. Maybe it changed since those posts, because the music was fairly quiet. Overall, it was great place for a date night. I will be coming here again.

    We went to Besito yesterday for lunch when the wait for Cheesecake Factory was 40 mins. Four adults, 3 year old and a 13 month baby. We called a fee minutes before arriving and the manager said there was no wait. I guess when we walked in with kids, his feelings changed. He was rude and not very accommodating. Let's just say being seated wasn't a pleasant experience. Quacamole that they make at the table was very good and the drinks were ok. The salad I got was ok but my wife enjoyed her quesadilla. Waiter tried to be helpful but maybe he was just busy. I wouldn't go back

    "Chad's Eats" review of Besito Mexican Cuisine: Mexican (semi upscale) Location: Chestnut Hill, MA Parking: Being at the Chestnut Hill Mall parking is ample and free Decor / Ambiance: Low lit, high energy with avocado carts rolling around. There is a festive ambiance and a beautiful wall of lit candles. This was the eye catcher for me Greeting: We were a bit early for our reservations. They said they would have a table for us shortly. Then a rush of folks came in and it was rather congested and chaotic. I think most of these folks did not have reservations. I had thought the hosts was going to lose track of us but almost to the minute our reservation was for, she grabbed two menus, made her way through the crowd and found us to to say "Your table is ready" and she brought us to our table. Menu mix: Creative classics and some inventive creations with rooted with Mexican influences. Great variety! Water / Bread service: Chips great, salsa bland. Water tasted great, fresh tasting and not a hint of bleach Drink pour: Got a 16 dollar pour of a high end tequila...real light pour. Let's just say the next round was a lower end tequila. We had 1/2 shots of a set of tasting flights at Casa de Pedro in Watertown and those pours were equal to Besito full pour. Food quality: Overall I thought the food quality was fine but didn't wow me like other Mexican restaurants I have been to. I went here for the purpose of having mole sauce. I have never had it. I had the Enchiladas de Mole Poblano. Two big enchiladas in a moat of mole sauce. I found it tasty, lots of depth in flavor, ver rich. For appetizers we got ceviche del dia. It was bland, not the best I have had. I like a nice bright citrus flavor and didn't get it with this. The carne asada tacos were very good served on a soft corn tortilla. My wife had a creative dish of encrusted Mahi Mahi with two sauces which was great. I enjoyed her dish more than mine. I also got a side dish of Mexican street corn which is served cut from the cob which I liked. This was great. Little side crocks of really good Rice and black beans served separately also come with your meal. Your meal ends with some complimentary churros. They were nothing remarkable. Service: Started out friendly and energetic but as soon as a party of 8 sat next to us then all attention shifted to that table. The large party was also read a bunch of specials which we were never told. Value: Aside from the tiny pours I felt the prices for this restaurant class was fair. It would be better if some of these weak points were addressed. Bathrooms: Impeccably clean! Would I return: Unfortunately I am in no hurry to return. I am continuing my search for other authentic Mexican restaurants

    I have been to this place 3 times now. The first time around the food was decent and staff was friendly. The second and third time around the food and the wait staff were just mediocre. The only dish consistently good all three times was the table side guacamole. It was delicious. For the price I would rather go some place else.

    I will be succinct; unfriendly hostess that didn't even make eye contact, waiter took 20 minutes to even take our drink order, food was average, we both ordered margaritas which were definitely watered down and the waiter argued with us and offered no apology. Very disappointing because the decor is beautiful! Never will return.

    In a word -underwhelming. I'm giving this place two stars not because it was especially bad, but when dinners are in the ~$20 range, and no better than any average Mom & Pop Mexican storefront, I think the place should try harder. The staff seems particularly disorganized. They botched the time of our reservation twice, and even with repeated mentions our server was unaware that one of us had a birthday. I disagree with the glowing guac reviews. The tableside prep was fine, but the product was b-l-a-n-d by any standard, even here in spice-challenged New England. The mixed plate and carnitas burrito were more or less adequate, but as noted overpriced for their quality. The one bright spot was the complimentary bag of churros at the end of the meal. They were great! Haven't had any as good anywhere else in Boston. Reminded me of New Mexico. Even so, we won't be going back.

    Besito makes me weep, the food is so good. I can't say anymore. It's just so good. They keep it very dark in the restaurant though. Just FYI, bring a flashlight. If you forget, don't worry, they'll provide you with one so you can see the menu.

    In order to garner a 5 star review from me an establishment must be perfect along the following key performance indicators: 1. Team 2. Quality 3. Cost 4. Delivery 5. Safety Besito's is exceptional across all 5!!!! We went to the location in Chestnut Hill on a very busy Saturday night....without a reservation. The hostesses managed to get us sat in a reasonable amount of time and the waitress arrived quickly. The only weakness was the table side made guacamole which lacked salt and lime juice. I am used to Texas made guacamole so my palate may be overly sensitive. For those wanting EXCELLENT Mexican food...this is the place to go!!!

    I was really looking forward to trying this place. We finally made our way on a Friday night. We arrived around 5 pm hoping there would not be a long wait. When we arrived there we were told by the hostess it would be 30 minutes. We decided to head to the bar and grab a margarita. After 45 minutes I decided to check in with the hostess again. She was extremely annoyed that I was bothering to check in and said it would be another 10 minutes. After another 25 minutes I was now annoyed so walked back over. She said we were next in line and proceeded to seat a party of 3. We were about to leave when a table miraculously opened. I was hoping the food would make up for the wait. Unfortunately I was wrong. I ordered the filet and it was charred well done and had no flavor. For $35 I would think a bit more attention to detail would be paid to the order. My husband ordered the fajitas and they too were so charred and burnt they were in edible. I will say the cocktails and bartenders were good. Otherwise this would be a 1 star. Overall terrible service with the hostess and the food was inedible. A long expensive night. Thank god for tequila

    We tried Besito for the first time tonight as a NYE celebration. It was very busy when we arrived around 6:30, though it emptied out by the time we left around 8pm. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and provided excellent service. The menu is not overly large but offers a good variety of meat, seafood, and vegetarian options. We started off with the table side guacamole. It was fresh and made very-well. We would recommend it. One problem - ours wasn't made table side... The only reason you're paying $11.95 for guacamole is for the experience that's supposed to come along with it. So, my advice, make sure your table side guac is actually made at the table. On the drinks front, I tried the Besito Mojito. It was very good. The drink menu seemed good, with a wide variety of margaritas. We ordered the side of street corn, as well as the plantains. Both were excellent, though the plantains were especially good and are highly recommended. My Wife went with the Quesadilla from the appetizer section as an entree. It was a good portion, and definitely enough for an entree. I ordered the Taco Mixtos. Also very good, and a good portion with leftovers to take home. We ended the night with the tres leche cake. It was very good. Along with the bill you also get a bag of freshly made churros. All-in-all, we enjoyed our experience at Besito.

    We went here last night, Sunday, spur of the moment. The place was packed! We had about a 20 minute wait ahead of us, so we thought we'd have a drink at the bar. Except that every person at the bar was dining, which made it super awkward to lean in and order a drink. I had an idea, and it worked. I explained my predicament to the hostess, Julia. She took my drinks order, 2 red sangrias, (v. Good!) got one of the bartenders right on it. Kathleen, the bartender, carved a space at the corner of the bar, and served us. V. nice. I thought the food was very tasty, and I'm looking forward to returning. The guac was v. good, as was the warm chips with freshly made salsa. We both had the short rib entree our friend recommended. Fantastic! Desserts were all v. good, particularly the pumpkin flan. Churros on the house finished the meal. Looking forward to returning!

    WOW! So happy to have this place so nearby! A surprise post-mother's day lunch date. The chips are so tasty, the salsa so fresh, the table side guacamole was delish and the salad I had was outstanding! Fresh, larger than I imagined and the salad's dressing was excellent too. Hubs had the chicken corn tortillas which were also outstanding. Beyond that the service was exemplary, five star service from Francesco. We left there sated, well...ready to explode, with two sweet worry dolls and two tasty churros.

    I didn't have high hopes because I'm so picky when it comes to mexican food but was pleasantly surprised. The guac and salsa were to die for plus the chips were fresh and warm. Our group tried several margaritas and they were just ok. We had tortilla pie, the chicken tacos and I had the salmon. Everyone really seemed to love their food. My salmon was perfectly crispy and the plantains were just the way I like them but I thought the mole sauce could have had more flavor. It was too bland for me. One of the best parts of the meal was the warm churros at the end. They were light and crispy just how churros should be! Definitely will look forward to going back the next time I'm in the area!

    My wife and I decided to try Besito at the Chestnut Hill Mall. Let me preface that I have been fortunate enough to have had real Mexican food in Mexico and Los Angeles. We came in on Saturday and the place was hopping. We didn't have a reservation and we are always happy to wait so we did. Our seats were in between two noisy parties so as much as I'm a people person the seats weren't good. Learning point 1. If you go ask for a booth or to eat outside if you want a better eating experience. I've had Ceviche many times and how can you screw it up. I thought Ceviche market price this has got to be good. Seriously Besito?! Ceviche? I understand trying to take food to another level like Asia de Cuba or Oriental de Cuba in Jamaica Plain but it HAS TO actually be BETTER. Thanks to our excellent waiter Paulet we had a nice time with her great service and by wife's dinner choice. The Michelada with a kick very nice! The Churros were tasty too.

    I have NO complaints about this place! The atmosphere is wonderful, dark, cozy with GREAT Latin music. We ordered the tortilla soup and the tamale de camarones y elote. They were both wonderful! For apps we all got the enchiladas mixtas, another flavorful and delish plate!!! It was very good and my favorite part it had pieces of sweet plaintains in them ..yum!!! For dessert we got the tres leches....my goodnessssss ..a piece of heaven!!!!! I am one that does not like desserts that are too too sweet, this one was perfect and sweet enough to satisfy a sweet tooth. Overall amazing experience, staff and ambiance! Cannot wait to go back!!!

    My wife and I went for the first time last Friday. The experience was...acceptable. The ambiance and service were both excellent, but the food was inconsistent. We started with the table side guacamole. Acid and salt were MIA. The lack of salt would have been acceptable if the chips were sufficiently salted to compensate. That was not the case. Although we asked for the guac prepared medium, there was a total lack of heat. Considering the novelty of table side guac (and an obvious effort by the staff to push it) I was very surprised at the poor execution. My wife ordered the tacos pastor. The shells and garnishes were quite tasty, but the protein was unseasoned and bland. She was quite disappointed. I had the special enchiladas, which were stuffed with an assortment of seafood and served with a butter cream sauce (I think). In contrast to my wife's meal, it was prepared and seasoned perfectly. Although I did not have a mixed drink, my wife mentioned the house margarita was very tasty. These hiccups are typical of a new restaurant and we'll likely try it again in a few months. If it does not improve we'll probably just make the trek to the Painted Burro when we want Mexican.

    The mixtos was so good. Guac very expensive, although they do give a large portion, good for splitting if in a big group. Also hand made table-side. Portions very fair, and authentic atmosphere, Spanish speakers welcome.

    Unimpressed overall. We ordered table side guacamole which was gross. After I told the waitress that she said oh yes that's cause we don't ads salt or citrus to it unless you request it. So basically we sat at the table ourselves making guacamole cause they don't flavor it. Chicken tacos were fatty with you much cheese, not enough true flavor. Drinks were of variable quality. Would not recommended

    Loved it! Pleasantly surprised it wasn't another 'tex mex' place. Beautiful candle-lit feature walls and authentic decor. Cocktails were amazing and red sangria incredible. Honorable mention to our charming server Pancho who looked after us like royalty. He made the night.

    So this is an odd review. Everything tasted good... Just nothing went right in my mind. The tacos were barely warm (but tasty), the guac was expensive for only one avocado (but tasty) and the house margarita was slow (but delish). So we will go back for one more whack at it... but given what they charge -- it needs to be on point.

    A small step up in food quality from a Chilis. My empanadas were dry and too thick; they clearly not made by hand and not freshly fried. The guacamole was fine but too salty. The chips are thin and crisp, so they were good! The chicken taquitos were a bit tough. My fish tacos- meh, ok. My red wine sangria was also just ok. At the end of the meal I felt really full of food that was mediocre and not worth the price. The food is heavy and dense. It seems good Mexican food is often either very cheap street food or very high end Mexican infusion, leaving places like Besito (not super cheap, and not eclectic) in the bad inbetween- think ole in Cambridge. Besito also misses the mark.

    We went here for lunch a few weeks back and were happy with everything. we got here pretty much right when they opened so it was mostly empty. they give you salsa and chips free, and the chips were warm and tasty. i ordered the chicken quesadilla which was perfect, cheesy and stuffed with the right amount of chicken and veggies. they also give you rice and beans for the table. everything was perfect, the service was excellent as well. it was interesting that they would talk to you in spanish, haha.

    Not so great. Came early on a Saturday night because we heard the wait can be very long, up to two hours. Service was good but food was pretty mediocre. The best part of the meal was the salsa which was excellent. Guacamole was good but nothing special. The Sangria was pretty good. Fish tacos were good but small and the Chicken mole was dry and the mole sauce was meh. There are just too many other food options in Boston and West suburbs to waste your money at Besito. Head down the street to Bernards for quality Chinese or Oishii for excellent sushi.

    I was excited to try this place after the phantom gourmet review. We called at 3 to make reservations in Chestnut hill and they told us we wouldn't need them at 530. We showed up at 515. Not only wouldn't they seat us but they couldn't give us an estimate of how long the wait would be. They were pretentious and rude. The hostess was extremely uppity. Maybe they only serve certain people. No thanks. Better Mexican food and better service can be found elsewhere.

    Great atmosphere, service and convenient parking. I ordered the shrimp tacos, in addition to the chicken tacos. Very good! Also, got the corn salsa. A must. As well as a margarita. Awesome! Nothing bad to say about this place at all. Will be back, and now in the permanent rotation.

    I took my son for dinner after a long day of baseball, we were exhausted and looking forward to a dinner date together. We unfortunately decided to try Besito in Chestnut Hill. Everything that Sari G from the 7/07/15 review is unfortunately true and more. It took forever for our waitress to come over to even get a drink order in, another 20-30 minutes for a glass of wine for me to show up and from there everything went downhill including trying to pay. NOT ever going back

    just an average mexican restaurant, that happens to be pretty expensive because of the location. It was easy to get a reservation. It is dimly lit inside as well. The guac that they make at the table is great. The chips are great also. Service was a bit slow, but at least the chips/salsa and guac are nice to wait with. The entrees are just ok, but pricey. We had a few different enchiladas and the chili relleno. Nothing blew our mind, just run of the mix american mexican food.

    We really enjoyed Besito. I've tried to make reservations online before, and it's always booked, so I was thinking, "how popular can this place really be?" On a Friday night at 6:30, it was packed! A really good energy, for sure. Our waitress was exceptional. We wanted to take our time -- 1st guac, made tableside, which was terrific, then tacos, then enchilada entrees, then dessert. We were never rushed, and the food was hot and delish. The tacos mixtos in the mini skillet was a little strange -- there was SO MUCH cheese, and you kind of had to dig around in it to get to the meat. The enchiladas mole was amazing, though, and the little churros at the end of the meal were lovely. Also, when we asked to take our leftovers home, they were packed with care in separate containers. It was a bit pricey, but as they say, you get what you pay for. We will definitely be back.

    We were a table of 3 and sat in the dining room. Ordered quac with our chips and salsa and waited for our margaritas. Two of us ordered the Pastor skillet tacos. Pork with pineapple and other yummy things. Sadly, I was really disappointed with the pork. It was so fatty, it was gross. I thought it was just mine the first couple of bites, but my friend said the exact same thing. We both didn't finish ours and I was going to say something, and didn't. I should have, I know. We asked for the drink menu and when it finally came, we waited quite awhile to actually get our drink once we ordered. Not helpful based on our meal. This is the second time I've been here, and I have to say that I'm not thrilled with the food, nor the service. I love the ambiance, and think it should be much better than it actually is. The waitress was so so, but clearly she didn't tend to us as she should. Maybe she was overly busy, who knows. I'm not sure about a next time for this place. That's sad.

    Loved my experience at Besito. Atmosphere was relaxing, yet had an upscale feel. Restaurant itself has many interesting details with the authentic mexican style/flavor which you notice everywhere you look: walls, ceiling, lighting, tables. All I can say it was definitely very tastefully designed. Staff was very friendly and intentive. Food was delicious. Mushroom (I think they used organic mushrooms which is a huge plus) quesadilla was my favorite - probably the best I have ever had in my life. Drinks were also great and not that expensive for such great restaurant. Loved their restroom door handle automatic sanitizor - so smart (have never seen anything like that before). Besito is a wonderful addition to Chestnut Hill! Will be coming back!

    Nice addition to the Chestnut Hill Mall. You can tell they're still working out some kinks but the manager was very attentive. We had the elotes and the tacos vegetales- both were solid but not particularly memorable. I appreciated the churros that came with the bill - those were fantastic! I think there's a lot of potential here..

    This is the nice change of pace that I was looking for. My girlfriend and I tried to go to the location in Burlington during our anniversary but wait time was too long so we hit this one on the way home. So glad we did. After making a reservation over the phone, we arrived a bit earlier than expected and was promptly seated despite the small crowd waiting before us. the atmosphere is nice and cozy, but quite upscale from such places like Acapulcos. Our server, Kelsey I believe, was awesome. Very attentive and patient, plus she made a pretty stellar tableside guacamole. The drinks are made well and the prices are a tad steep but the experience makes it all worth it. Definitely looking forward to a return here soon

    Looking forward to this new place! Went to dinner with my family tonight. As background grew up in California eating at lots of great Mexican restaurants. I was a bit disappointed by the general lack of flavor. The good: waiter was very nice and friendly. Ambiance was fabulous. Kids were treated like little kings. The bad: hostess was rude. Could be better: food. You can quickly tell the quality of a Mexican food restaurant by the beans and rice as well as the salsa they serve with their chips. Both the beans and rice were under salted and did not have much flavor. Goya beans straight out of the can have more flavor than the beans they served. The rice followed in the same theme. Beans and rice served with fish tacos at Cheesecake Factory next door taste better My kids had the quesadillas which didn't taste much different than what I would make at home in five minutes. I had the mole enchiladas. The sauce was rich with nice tones of chocolate and a bit of heat - perhaps too sweet for my taste. My wife had the salmon manchmanteles also under seasoned & too sweet. In addition the chicken was dry without much flavor. Very disappointing! Food was also overpriced In the area I would suggest sol azteca on beacon, or Casa Romero off newberry

    We tried Besito last night and we enjoyed it over all. The highlights were the food and the friendly staff. I ordered skillet tacos - they were excellent. My husband ordered the carne asada appetizer. Which he liked too. We sat at the bar -- it was very busy which is fine and the wait staff was friendly. The guacamole was phenomenal but the salsa was really mushy. Not diced tomatoes but puréed which we were not a fan of. It was dark but they gave us flash lights which I didn't quite understand but no big deal. It was a little pricey but we expected that being in Chestnut hill. Over all it was great but it didn't blow our socks off!!!

    I went to Besito with 4 friends on Memorial Day for Dinner. While everyone else thought their food was OK (not great but edible), we joked that although it wasn't great, it wasn't terrible. However I was up half the night with food poisoning. I think it was the shrimp tamales. I phoned the restaurant the next day as a courtesy to tell them to check the shrimp tamales. What is scary is that a friend of mine *also had a friend eat at Besito Chestnut Hill that same night and HE WAS UP all night sick too. I will not go back. 2 people sick at home is more than a coincidence. Something is up with Besito's Cleanliness standards (or lack of)!! Yuck!

    Great new restaurant at Mall at Chestnut Hill. Having dined her many times, I've had an opportunity to try many of the items on the menu. I especially like the guacamole and queso fundido for apps. The enchiladas mixtas are fantastic! The dulce de lech is excellent. The ambiance is as good as the food. I appreciate the extra touches--dolls and churros at the end of the meal and the dog water dish and treats on their outside patio.

    Good service very good taco skillet. I got the combo (steak chicken and chirozo) and it was the perfect blend of spices. Food comes with rice and beans for the table. We got chocolate pudding for dessert and cherreos (sp?). The right amount of food and the cost was reasonable. Like most higher end places they made the guacamole at the table.

    Such tasty high quality Mexican meal! I had the mahi and it was superb! Both sauces, especially the corn, are soooo good. The mariscos de boldin was very flavorful and tasty as was the shrimp dish. The guac was realllyyyy good too, wish it had more than one avocado tho. I will certainly come back and probably order the mahi again!

    Not impressed. When we arrived the restaurant was very crowded and we were thankful for our reservations. This place seemed popular so I was excited for a night of excellent food... but I was a little disappointed. We decided to order a bunch of appetizers and dine tapas style. Unfortunately the waiter delivered all of our appetizers at once (6!) and they were slightly cold. After he delivered our food he checked back every 5 minutes to see if he could clear our plates. I understand that the place was crowded, but that does not mean that you should rush out customers. The food was good, but not great. I would suggest meeting here for drinks and moving on elsewhere for a meal.

    I went there during a quiet time between lunch and dinner, so it was not crowded and all the staff was very attentive. They seem to be doing well for a place that's only been running for a month. Waitress greeted us in both her native Spanish and in English, a nice touch. She brought us margaritas but forgot the salt, which she realized before even handing them to us. She fixed them promptly. Drinks were very tasty. The guac was excellent. We ordered appetizers - empanadas, tacos, and a quesadilla. All were delicious and all the ingredients were very fresh. I am excited to find a decent Mexican restaurant in Boston since there are so few good ones and I hope Besito does well.

I had mahi mani, $29 small portion of fried? or sautéed mediocre fish with nothing else on the plate for the price it should be GREAT. The other people with me had the same experience, mediocre food for $$$ as another yelp review said, its better than anything else in newton but........Ill pass

    First time at Besito and took a friend for her birthday. Her choice and I was looking forward to trying it. Had a reservation and was seared within 10 min of the res. our waiter had only been there two weeks and was trying too hard. A lot of running around and couldn't answer a number of questions. Manager came over and was very nice bad accommodating. Disappointed in the food. The chips were the best part of the meal. I thought the beans and rice for the table were tasteless and not plentiful. The shredded chicken in my enchilada was fair and not enough cheese on the enchilada . I asked for verdes sauce but it wasn't on the menu. Loved the atmosphere and ambiance, but very disappointed. Like Sol Azteca much better.

    Where to start... 1. It Is NOT Mexican. It is just a far far away imitation of a Mexican restaurant catering the Chestnut Hill upscale crowds. Food is terrible, very expensive for rice and beans. No special Mexican cuisine to justify the dinner menu pricing. Of course, the crowd will pay for anything if it is in Chestnut Hill. 2. Music - If you actually care, Salsa, flamenco are NOT Mexican. I love music but it is very tiring to go to a tapas place, for example, and listen to bachata, salsa. Mexican music is so rich that it is hard to believe they couldn't find something real. By the way, the noise is deafening. No place for real conversations. 3. Hostesses - barely could put their act together 4. We couldn't wait to leave. Lucky me, i was home in 5 minutes. 5. If you are willing to pay the tag for beans and tacos, go local, support your small businesses in the area. Newton Centre has several examples. Besito is just a mall, chain restaurant catering the specific demographics of the suburbs and the trendy over spending pockets of the area. 6. The old restaurant (Charlies) wasn't awesome but it did feel like the neighborhood place where " everyone knew your name". Miss having a place like that in my area.

    My fiancé and his family went to this restaurant for his birthday and I completely regret it. Despite the overwhelming positive reviews on Besito's atmosphere, services and food we were all disappointed with Besito. We arrived earlier than our reservation time and we were sat right away. The dinner menu is one page and we were scouring to see what we could settle with. I asked to substitute my salmon manchamenteles with plaintains because I'm allergic to avocados and my waiter said "sorry we cannot do that." Our waiter also did not comprehend English thoroughly. Besito's culture is to largely hire people that represent their culture of family, hard work and genuine love for food. I didn't get any sense of those components in our waiter, he offered unfinished explanations as to why I could not substitute anything on the menu. That said I had a flank of salmon on the plate with a scribble of sour cream. My salmon was bland and flavorless. My tomatillo sauce I requested was watery and also disappointed my hopes to somehow add flavor to my lonely salmon on the plate. All of us were disappointed with our meal and service. I also noticed that our waiter did not talk to the manager about my peanut and avocado allergy so I talked to the manager about my allergy. We were asked if this was the first time at the restaurant yet the manager did not come to our table to introduce himself and asked if we were pleased with anything. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

    Besito exceeded all of my expectations. Our waiter, Felix, was the best! I had chicken enchilada soup - they serve you a very small portion first to see if you like it - then a big bowl with the broth served (poured) from a hot tea pot. I also had a quesadilla filled with yummy veggies and cheese. Could not finish all the food. The management came over twice and the water glasses were refilled constantly. They serve two warm churros (comp) after dinner. Delish. They also served a special cake for my birthday celebration (comp). We had res. on Friday night. There was a line out the door when we left. Will return soon.

    Ok. The first mistake I made was not ordering the table side guacamole. I have read so many reviews that make it sound stupendous. I would have liked to try that but I just can't go back because the food I actually did order was kinda nasty. Too bad BC I really do dig this kind of food. Well we did get a free hat so I guess that was a plus. I'm on the fence about this place. I would go back if someone else was paying the bill

    Went here last night for the first time. Overall it was average. The restaurant has promise but I was put off by the very dirty dishes on my table. I asked for a replacement dish as the dish I had felt like there was caked on food from a prior diner. The replacement they gave us was even worse with actual pieces of food still hanging on. 3rd plate was acceptable. The fish taco appetizer was very good, I would go back for that alone. We split a salad with a seasoned chicken on it, the salad itself was so overloaded with tortilla chips we had to remove that layer to get to the greens. The chicken was not that warm and was a bit overcooked but tasted pretty good. The salad was decent, but there were these hard, slightly chewy things in the salad we couldn't identify, initially thought they were sweet potato but they had an odd taste. The host kept coming to our table asking us how things were, we really didn't want to be bothered that much. The waiter wasn't as attentive as he should have been mainly because he was making table side guacamole for so many tables that he couldn't fulfill being a waiter. Suggestion to management: Have someone designated to do that dog and pony show. Price was very expensive for what you get, and I don't feel this place is good enough to warranty $18-20 dishes and $11-$14 drinks. As a side note, the overbearing mexican music is just too loud, it needs to be turned down a few decibels. It's screaming "We're mexican, we're mexican!!" I get it, it's upscale mexican food. Also there's a slightly frightening picture of what I thought looked like two bulls eating each other's heads that just seemed a bit tacky. Maybe a better choice of mexican style artwork would have fit the bill. Service was slow, food was overall average with a few bright spots (guacamole, fish tacos). Let's hope they work out their kinks and lower their pricing or they won't last long.

    A few thoughts on this restaurant: * I think the food and drinks are good, not great. It is certainly better than the other mexican restaurant in Newton, but not marginally better, and for the prices they charge, the portion size should be a bit bigger. For example, the guacamole (which could use a bit more flavoring) was a pretty small portion for two people. And the iron skillet tacos come in a skillet of queso, but by the time I received it the queso had congealed and made the removal of the chicken tough to do. * I think they are creating an artificial wait. We went in there Saturday night, and while they claimed all day that they were fully booked, numerous table sat empty for the whole hour we were there. When people came in to ask for a table, they were told over an hour wait, even though there were a lot of tables empty. And I don't think this was because reservations were no-shows. * I think the other reviews on here, at least the majority of them, are PR-related. This just opened Friday, but I understand they had media in prior to that. The reviews just seem too buzz wordy and PR-ish.

    Went here on a Wednesday night with my husband and had to wait about 20 mins since we did not have a reservation. Kudos to them for having a wait on a Wednesday night. It appears the expectation is to be a high end Mexican restaurant, which is not a common concept. Their staff could use more training on professionalism and customer service to match the overall image. The food was "okay", but perhaps I had higher expectations. It was over priced for the dishes that would've been less and more authentic anywhere else. I'm torn whether I'd return because I didn't enjoy the food, but I would fairly say everyone should at least give it a try and support a new restaurant in the area.

    Living in Chestnut Hill affords me an abundance of new eateries, such as "Brio Tuscan Grille", "Seasons 52", "Davios", "Del Frisco's Grille" and the new and improved, "Bernards" once located in the Chestnut Hill Mall. My boyfriend and I decided to try "Besito's Mexican Restaurant", new to both of us, to celebrate my 21st birthday last weekend. It is located in the space once occupied by the dark and dingy "Charley's" restaurant in the Chestnut Hill Mall. We thoroughly enjoyed the authentic Mexican food they boast in a vibrant, hacienda-like environment. The service was superb. I ordered the Tacos Mixtas and my boyfriend had the Enchiladas Carnitas, each dish was around $20.00. To be duly noted: "Customers' loyalty helps to serve 1,500 meals each week in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico where the company has sponsored and helped to build school kitchens. Local mothers find employment by cooking. Local children get what is often their only nutritious meal of the day, so they can concentrate on what they do best: learning." This is a wonderful opportunity to support a great cause while experiencing an affordable, fabulous dining experience.

    I've eaten here three times now, and I'm not very impressed. I've had a different meal each time, and they've all been mediocre at best. I think the place is overpriced, and the table-side guacamole is so annoying because all they try to do is sell you on it because it's a huge profit item, then try to upsell you once they come to make it ("Oh, this only serves two people so you need 3 orders"), and the cart takes up the entire restaurant. I would only go back if someone REALLY wanted to eat there. Bring your wallet, and expect for it to be empty when you leave if you plan on having a few drinks.

    Visited for the 2nd time today for lunch but probably won't go back (unless I'm sitting at the bar). Both times we visited we had a good sized party but the place was more then half empty so that shouldn't have presented any issues for the staff yet both times we felt service was lacking. Very slow to get the table side guacamole service and the waiter that prepared it was not experienced. If I go to a Mexican restaurant that offers this service it's so much about the presentation. Maybe I'm biased having lived in Santa Fe, NM for a time but wasn't impressed. After a very long wait for the entrees they had one of the orders wrong so one member of our party had to wait an additional 5 minutes for their meal. The food quality both visits was fine but most people don't have 2 hours to spill for lunch. Next time will just visit the local Acapulcos. Not as fancy but I know the food is good and the service is quick (and the air conditioner usually works).

    Horrible.......Salsa was disgusting.....full of garlic, and sent it back.... Sangria was bitter and tasteless, Chicken Mole Enchiladas tasted like canned chicken with watered down, sugary chocolate sauce with rubbery pancakes.....Rice was flavored with some sort of oily condiment, back beans, ditto......Fish we had was waaay too salty.....Will never return.....Don't waste your hard earned money here....I would liken this to bad cafeteria food. Everyone I spoke to in the mall this evening who has eaten here agrees that this place is horrible and it will not last. What a waste of space in the lovely Chestnut Hill Mall.....I would give Besito No stars, except the servers were really nice......Taco Bell has much better food......seriously....!!

    We went here for my husbands birthday- the food was delicious and the service terrific but I had to write this review at 4 stars because they totally screwed up my husband's birthday dessert. I made the reservation on open table and in the comments I mentioned it was my husband's birthday and I wanted a special dessert. Then I called and asked what the dessert was and they told me tres leches and I asked for the chocolate pudding they said sure and that was that. Then the day before they called to confirm and again I made mention of the birthday chocolate pudding they said sure and we were done. When we got there we ate a great dinner and the waiter asked if we wanted dessert- I was annoyed because I had already mentioned it 3 different times in three different ways and it would have been nice if it could have been a surprise! I said we did order something and could he please check with the hostess. I waited a bit and nothing came and my husband was almost done with his coffee. I got up and spoke with the hostess. A few minutes later he came back with a white cake and I said no it is supposed to be a pudding. Finally it came with no candle or any fanfare. I am not mad at the last part because maybe they are low key about birthdays I am mad that despite clear instructions on my part the royally messed up my husband's birthday dessert. Did it ruin our night? No. Would I go back again? Definitely! Was it annoying and unprofessional? Absolutely!

    Food was great. Service was attentive and great. Ambiance was very nice and upscale. It was a perfect night. The chips were delicious as was the table side guac. The entrees were very good and a bit different. Not the same old chain restaurant Mexican food. Prices are a bit higher - but it is that type of nicer place. Not a hole in the wall Mexican spot. It is at a high end shopping center so obviously you will pay more. But the quality was very high. I would go back time and time again. Loved this place. It is crowded so be prepared to wait a bit and to have it be a bit louder because it is full. All in all a great night!

    Yes, we had the often-cited made-by-your-tableside guacamole. Yes, it was good. The service was also responsive, but the food that followed the guacamole was completely tasteless (four of us, three dishes, including enchiladas, none of which had any real taste, particularly the Ensalada Mexicana, in which the chicken was not only tasteless but rubbery). The location is good (Chestnut Hill Mall) and the aesthetics of the restaurant were fine. Truly, the food was so lacking in flavor that all other good aspects of the restaurant couldn't compensate!

    I was disappointed. The food was only OK and the manager was kind of a jerk. The only good part about our trip was the waitress. She was very attentive and apologetic when things were taking too long. First we were placed under a table where my wife was getting dropped on from a leak in the ceiling. The manager brought us to a new table but clearly wasn't happy about it. Then the sangria we ordered took forever to arrive. Our waitress came over twice to apologize for how long out was taking. Eventually she came over and said she was getting the manager to make it and bring it over himself. After about 5 minutes he did that but he didn't say a word. He just slammed the glasses and pitcher on the table then poured 2 glasses out, spilling a bunch in the process. Then he walked away, never having said anything. The sangria was pretty tasty, though. Eventually our food came and like I said, it was only OK. The tableside guacamole was the pretty good but the avocados were not quite ripe enough. I had the mole enchiladas for my meal. The mole sauce was not as flavorful as I've had from other places. My wife got the shrimp tacos and said that they were decent, but not worth the price. We also had the street corn which was probably the best part. It had a nice smoky flavor that I really liked and it was already stripped off the cob so it was not messy to eat. I thought that maybe after having to wait so long for our drinks and food that maybe the manager would take something off the bill or throw in a small dessert for free but he never did. Basically I wouldn't recommend it. Too bad, because I had heard good things before I went.

    I went here with my two friends for New Year's Eve. The service was alright. The food and drinks were delicious! I've been to the Burlington location multiple times and love it so decided to try the Chestnut Hill location since it's closer. However, I wish I never did! My two friends left cash and I asked them to put my portion on my card. Well funny that my receipt had the exact amount and then when I checked my bank account days later.... The entire check was taken out of my card. Where did the cash go we left for our waitress! The manager was extremely rude to me and didn't care that I was unhappy about the whole situation. So I will never be coming here again. They have only been open for 3 months and this is already going on! I'll drive the extra 20 minutes to the Burlington location next time and not get robbed.

    Disappointing. Guacamole was not ripe. Mexican salad was bland. Enchiladas Mole was OK, but lacked cheese The side of beans was watery. The salsa, good, but again too watery for me, which leads to messy eating. The bar staff seemed somewhat ,unaware (the bearded guy) or alternatively upset/confused by our asking a lot of questions about their tequilas. Overall, it was very frustrating to visit our new local Mexican joint, for which we had real hopes. For our area, Cafe Sol Azteca still has the good food and some sense of soul. While Besito took one item off our bill, we really do not care about that, as the value of our time was irreplaceable. Sncerely, Mark Donohue

    Friends picked this place and I was hugely disappointed when I realized it's a mall restaurant. From out of town in Boston for a weekend, I wasn't looking to sample local mall chain food. I ended up being pleasantly surprised. The place is noisy and crowded, but the servers at the bar were friendly and attentive (one even gave me a sample of a drink I saw her make for another customer). The drinks were pretty good. Our waitress was delightful. We started with their table made guacamole which was delicious (though I thought the tortillas were a bit salty). Everything we ordered was excellent and served hot (I highly recommend the chicken tacos and Mexican corn). There was a long wait to get a table and the service is slow, so don't go if you're looking for a quick meal, but if you have time to sit, relax and enjoy a good meal and fun atmosphere, give it a shot.

    This is the best Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. The food is very fresh and tasty. They use a great range of spices so the tastes are interesting and not just spicy hot. The staff is wonderful. They are attentive and fast. I love that the bilingual conversations. The guacamole is created at your table and is the best ever. The drinks are amazing too. I can't wait to go back. I hope they open one in Boston.

    Had an amazing meal at Besito this week! My husband and I are very hard to please when it comes to Mexican food, being from Southern California. Despite trying to find quality Mexican food in New England for the past few years, we haven't found a restaurant that offers quality, authentic Mexican cuisine...until now! What a treat it was to find Besito! Amazingly fresh ingredients and authentic flavors that are so hard to find this far north of the border. We had the shrimp tacos (prepared with beer batter, so reminiscent of the ones we've had in the Yucatan), the costillas, and the enchiladas de mole---all superb, especially the rich, beautiful mole sauce, which equaled the mole we've had in Mexico City! Super attentive, welcoming and gracious owner, general manager and staff! I can't speak more highly about this restaurant. We'll definitely be back for more!

    Their guacamole is the best I've ever had, especially since it's made right there at your table. The environment is fun and the staff is friendly. The good food, however, stops at the guacamole. Everything else we've tried from the menu is lacking texture and flavors. The other food is just greasy and plain.
